I got my new leon fr on christmas eve from seat dealer in Derby and on driving home to York realised that there was a really bad judder. Took in to local dealer and to cut a long story short it has up to now had a new fly wheel and clutch. This didnt solve the problem, so they sent off fault to seat and to summarise they have said it needs a new cylinder head, new fuel tank, lines and pump etc. Basically most componenents of a new engine and a 2k claim on warranty. Apparently it was in garage under warranty 5k ago for same thing done, but not done properlly. Not sure what i should do? Still have 15 days of exchange/money back to go. Or do i stick with the car after all the probloems in the hope it will be fixed properlly?

Were you in Wills & Ellis just after Christmas?

yes mate i was. i get around. i'm thinking of buying a tent and taking up residence.

I was in there getting my TFSI FR serviced, did not hear much but guessed it was something big..........get rid of it while you can with no cash loss and get them to pick it up

Say bye bye to the car and the dealer- the fact that they have sold you a dud, it has failed before and that they want to sell it as a "wrong colour" return... does the salesman have a peg leg an eye patch and a parrot? Does the service manager have a stripey jumper and a bag marked "swag" over his shoulder?
Walk away and get another from elsewhere- great car, good year, think yourself lucky it went pop while you were in the return/refund zone.

take some advice from someone who has been through this experience already and reject the car .
my cylinder head went at 4k miles and was replaced , also 2 exhausts ,coil packs , injectors, you name it changed. the car has never been right and is now back at the dealers . this has been going on 18 mintgs now and i wish i rejected it when i had the chance but my heart ruled my head.

As for the OP....take the advice you have been given.....life is too short for the grief you will go through with SEAT overwise.;)

I will say I had good service from GK Seat when looking for a car, although I did not buy from them as they would not budge on price. Sadly being 4 miles away are my local garage for service (if I use them) and warranty work.......

Like the others have said a problem car usually stays a problem car and I would get your money back and look for an alternative car.

dealer principle has just been on the phone. apologising for lies and says he will refund the cash or look for a new car for me. Tried getting me to try car out for two weeks once its out of the garage. Told him will definitely be sending back. Thanks for advice lads.

Are they going to collect it, compensate you for wasted time, inconvenience, fuel etc. etc.

it depends. i think if i got a refund they'd try and get away without it. But as there is a shortfall between my car and other fr's they'll have to foot the difference. Seat uk are involved and i would assume that they'll make sure that i'm compensated for all the bad service, lies, etc.

Hmmmm this might be a steep learning curve for you my freind , when you say SEAT uk do you mean SEAT customer care?. if so you will get nothing from them and their goodwill gestures will be free services not money.

The dealership you are dealing with will refund you your cash back , they will not have to make up any shortfull on any car , if there is another car thats more expensive they might offer you a discount to keep your custom but i guarantee you it will mean you spend more cash.
They will firstly try to get you into another car before giving you your money back , and you will recieve an apology and that will be it.

You have 2 other options ,
1 tell seat what you want , if you really want to keep the car i would ask seat for a brand new engine to be fitted and 2 years free servicing and your seat warranty extended.
2 , get them to find you a replacement vehicle from the seat approved used vehicle scheme.

if all else fails you will get a full refund and just put it down to a bad experience.

i dont think it will be money from seat. assumed free services might be a gesture. I have spent a month searching for the right car and am not willing to give it up for my money back and a kick in the teeth. I want them to find me another car of similar mileage and age whether it costs them money or not. Dealer principle did say today that he will get a car of same age/mileage but might take a week or two, and in the mean time he is having a car driven over for us to use while we are carless.
