It will be mapped on a dunno in October but want to see where it's at before I take it back. Prob the last chance I'll have to do a decent run this year and I want that 1/4mile record.

Hows the dsg remap going?, have you find out where the smoke is coming from yet mate? Cant wait to see yours finished and what time it gets! Gives me something to aim for haha

Tsr are looking at valve stem seals for smoking. It's not turbo and pistons are unlikely. Dag map is good but needs More work on launch control but we shall see at Santa pod on sunday

Little update on where I am at now. I went down to Santa pod today and did seven runs. Once I had mastered trying doing the launch control sequence before the lights changed greeniI managed two 13.7s and two 13.6s runs. There's no way I could have done any better given the conditions.

Launches were perfect, loads of traction, perfect gear changes at the correct rpm but....

It was 28.5degrees raising to 30degrees and heatsoak was a massive problem. I was logging the car throughout my runs and at one stage intake temps were over 45degrees! Think I recall the highest being 48. I had to turn the settings on the revo map down to get better times. You can see from my timing sheet that the Launches were harder and it was quicker to 1/8th of a mile with higher settings but then as temps rise even more it starts to pull timing until the end time is slower than with the harder settings. Really think water methanol is needed.

Just needs custom mapping as the revo software has torque limits built in so even though the dsg has been mapped, there's a limit on the effect of the loba turbo and higher capacity pistons. I have noticed the car runs slightly leaner than what's requested by the mapLi

The heat is bad for these engines!! Slows them down terribly, mt first run at pod was 13.7 then it just got worse because of the heat, im needing intercooler/ WM then some semi slicks, my fastest time was 13.7 and to 60ft i got 2.1.. So im up there just had no traction with the crappy tyres i had on! Semi slicks next time for sure! Haha

The pistons were what .020 over? So it's not a dramatic increase in capacity, your problem is running the loba on a map designed for the standard k03, you're moving more more air with the same amount of fuel so you're going to be running pretty lean at certain points in the map. With your luck I'd err on the side of caution and restrict full throttle fun until you get a map sorted.

That's true. Also the valve springs apparently need mapping for or valve ports will open and close with different times or something like that.

What intake temps are people seeing when it's hot ie 25-30deg.

The cams control when they open and close, I'm assume you went with stiffer springs?

On the standard cooler on a warm day if I'm thrashing it I usually see around 12C - 15C above ambient temperature, the longer you push it though the worse it gets and you can definitely feel the power fall off.

Yeah doesn't surprise me then their map I'd great. I'd say that no is good for0.4s over the revo map on the strip from looking at revo and Apr cars along with their modifications.

Would be interesting to see if someone cares to swap tuner.

Are you still running Revo software? Are APR still releasing their map for the Loba?

Im thinking about changing to APR software from Revo.. people seem to get better times with that!

No Apr UK and oz have scrapped plans for this engine. There is a fundamental problem with restrictive manifold and small exhaust ports so ideally you need a decat and higher flow manifold for a hybrid or run a larger turbo at lower boost and a custom manifold. Although 300bhp is possible with the standard engine and big turbo.

I dont believe that for a second. My car was much worse than that when running stock software and stock cooler!! more like +30-50oC on a 4th gear WOT pull

I was thinking of buying the old golf git intercooler that has pipes in and out the same side thus the total length of the pipe is shorter and also you dont have to go past the exhaust.

It should be noted, a warm day for where I am is 22C tops and that rarely every happens.

I have a Torque log of me doing 30 - 140 with an ambient temp of 18C and it tops out at 39C, I'll see if I can find it. However I very rarely do flat out speed runs so those temps are meaningless to me, I've logged/watched temps on back road jaunts and most of the time 12 - 15C above ambient is about right. Unless torque is lying to me...
