Have ordered an Altea XL TDI SE Copa DSG with all the toys (I am told!) - its an ex head office car with 4k miles. They say I will get it later this week.

Might be a change from an old Fiat bug eyed Multipla - which has been a great servant for 4 years. But seek 50+ mpg with my light right foot from the Altea. Wishful thinking ?

Gentlemen, my great thanks for your warm - and prompt - welcome.

With the Fiat I achieved 52mpg on long runs and 43/44 around town and local rural routes. This was always brim to brim. It is a fact that Fiat calibrated their trip computer using USA gals (3.8l) instead of Imperial gals (4.54l). I see that on occasions there is some discussion on the Seat trip computer being at variance to brim measurements, I wonder if its the same issue?

I have also learned from these pages to check interior carpets for damp. I never thought I would have to do that on a new car. Are there any other things I should check before I sign-off the delivery? I am told it is having the standard 102 point used car check at Perry's Aylesbury. Now collecting late Friday afternoon. TIA
