My FR TDi problem - now with VAG-COM logs

Right, some people may have read the various posts I've had on here regarding my problem with the FR TDi where it is very juddery at idle and loses acceleration. It's an intermittent problem which never seems to happen when I take it the dealers. Had new MAF, fuel filter and not fixed.
Anyway, after getting very sick of getting nowhere I bought a vag-com cable and waited til it was having its problem. I then did a log over time when it had the problem and also one where it didn't.

I've uploaded the xls file, the top part is the BAD run and the bottom part is the GOOD run (under the black separator). I didn't log the good run for as long. This is at standstill.

I logged only blocks 1, 2 and 3.

The two thing that are immediately jump out are at on the bad run the "Inj. Quantity" is massively higher than the good run and also "Idle Stabalization" is lower.
But - on the goood run there is a value in the column "duty cycle %" on group 3 - in the bad run there isn't!!

One of the "Mass Air / Rev." readings also jumps about a lot on the bad reading but not on the good.

Anyway, there's probably not much point me going on here about the data, please take a look and throw any ideas my way!!!

[edit]

Also, if there are any other blocks which I should measure then let me know and next time it goes bad I'll log em! :)

It's been into a SEAT dealership for every single bit of work it's ever had done, including for this problem. Maybe I should take it to a Nissan dealership instead?

Did you buy it from a Nissan dealership and have a full warranty through them? If not I don't think it'd do much good!

No, it was bought from a SEAT dealership, so yes, your probably right, I should take it to a dealership who specialises in VAG vehicles and will not only have the specialist tools but the experience and expertise in both the actual model of the car and VAG in general.

So it sounds like my advice was useful as opposed to the advice given by you in my thread!

Not really, if you want a job done right then take it to the right people. As I said, it's a VAG engine, so take it to a VAG garage.

Not really a good start is it, 7 posts and most of them are being obnoxious! I think dev's comment on your thread was reasonable (ie that a SEAT/VAG garage may be able to offer more help than a Nissan one which by your own admission was stuck).

The forum is for advice, you can't expect everyone to be a mechanic and have an answer for you straight away without access to the car!

On that note, I am cannot offer any help with the problem discussed in this thread, only to suggest that you take the extra information you have now captured to a VAG specialist garage or wait for one of the more 'tecchie' types to come along. Might be worth posting in the TDI section?

To be fair /dev/null's advice wasn't helpful in the slightest. Since it was purchased from a Nissan dealership and only recently and comes with a full warranty from them I can't just decide to take it to Seat without it costing me, something which obviously isn't right. However the dealership concerned has now taken it to Seat.

I'm not expecting everyone to be a mechanic, I'm also not expecting ridiculous replies along the lines given. I'm a member of golfgti.co.uk's forum and I have to say they've been 1000x times more helpful than you lot. Had I posted such a thread across there I'd have had many more useful responses.

None of my posts have been obnoxious. However I am now going to find an alternative Seat owners forum as this one is clearly full of wind up merchants and people unwilling to help one another.

Sad you feel like that I have been on and off here since 2003 and also a member of babybmw.net and I have found both to be really useful and helpful. 9 post's and two threads is probably not the best insight into this forum TBH.

Strange isn't it that you now post in your other thread that after going to SEAT the problem has been found and is being repaired...
Looks like it wasn't such bad advise after all.

If you notice my thread already said it was going to Seat before you jumped in!

No, you told me to do something I already stated was going to be done! No help at all!

 at the above.

Just let him go. You were never going to get an admission that you were correct. Your advice was wrong until what was suggested actually happended and then rather than admit you might have been helpful he pretends it was his idea all along.

It would have been my advice too, if a garage providing a warranty are unable to fix the car covered they need to find someone who can - simple.

For the record, I have found most of the comments on here to be helpful and usually correct, but then I suppose that depends on how you read them doesn't it?!

Sounds like your egr is playing about from what your logs say,I would start looking there. If it sticks open a bit it will cause a loss of boost pressure.

Hi,
Thanks for the info - sorry to sound thick but what in the logs if pointing to boost loss?
