I've installed a K&N filter on my 1.4 2010 Ibiza and I'm noticing some loud vibration in the dashboard and pedals when I press the accelerator down suddenly.

Did anyone have this problem? I'm worried the vibration might not be doing the interior any good.

I'm quite sure the filter is stuck on well and tightly, so I'm not sure what the problem could be =/

Thanks

I had also a vibration in my pedals after installing an open filter on my 1.4 TSI. I thought it was because the engine tilts back when you accelerate and the filter might then touch the coachwork or something which will make you feel the vibration.
I removed my filter after a week so never really looked into it.

I'm really considering doing this...so in your case it was the filter actually making contact with something else.

I'find this strange because I can reach high speeds without vibrations if I press the pedal slowly down all the way. Slamming it down creates vibrations. I would assume the engine would be thrown back the same amount for a certain rpm?

pressing the pedal down slowly doesnt flex the engine mount bushes like it does launching the car so the engine will move more launching the car than it does easing in the throttle.

it sounds like your filter is sitting to close to something making it hit have you not made a mount or something to hold the filter away from everything.

so I'm assuming you've removed the standard air box and trunking?

These parts are designed to minimise induction noise, vibration and resonance. You remove them and guess what? yup, noise, vibration and resonance increase.

My filter was mounted as advised on the K&N instructions.

I've just spent the last 2 hours trying to solve this problem. These are my conclusions:
• with cone filter the car vibrates
• without cone filter the car still vibrates
• with factory airbox the car does not vibrate
• with factory airbox without the panel filter the car vibrates

So I think the problem is the air flow. To much of it and the engine seems to not enjoy it...

Have a look at my previous post, what do you think?

as I said - the length, volume and size of the air box is designed to minimise noise. Remove it, you will get an increase in noise.

If you really want to get technical read up on inlet pulses and induction tract length.

What you've done is similar to removing a silencer from your exhaust and then complaining it's noiser.

I'm not complaining its noisier, that was the point of changing the filter. But the car shakes so violently that I can't imagine someone living with it for more than 2 months.
