So a few months ago at work got chatting to a guy about cars and the such, turned out he had a 1989 Toyota Mr2 he was considering getting rid of as he couldn't justify having it anymore (with a growing family).

I've always been a big fan of the Mr2's, but never really seen too many of the earlier ones around where i live so, the next weekend I went down to see the car and have a little drive.
The car was in amazing condition for its age, with only a tiny bit of exterior rust on the rear arch, basically it had been sitting in a garage for 4 years on a battery drip and he'd taken it out this year to fix it up after being in a garage for so long and use as a daily.

Car drove really well, very tight for a 22 year old car and pulled strong when you planted it, even more fun through the corners obviously with the rwd and engine out the back, however sitting so close to an engine that easily roars its way to 7500rpm was what sold me on the car.

So 1k later and the cars mine, and it was probably the most fun iv ever had on a drive back from buying a car, especially when the T-vis opens in the engine and it changes the exhaust note!!! :D Im such a kid.

Basically just plan on having some fun with it for a while, not too many extras to put on, but may look into using it on a track at some point.

*Engine*

Standard 1.6 16v Twin Cam T-vis.
126 bhp when new
120,000 miles
Just done the cam belt.
K&N Induction kit

*Body*

All original panels
Tiny inch of rust on rear arch (been repaired)
Missing 'Toyota' Decal on bonnet (not too bothered)
Pop-up head lamps fully working (may look into getting something a bit brighter in the future)

*Brakes*

Standard, but with new discs and pads all round.
Will look into Brembo's or something better when these need changed.

Very nice! I've always secretly wanted a drive in one of those, particularly the first generation. But they were such a hairdressers car that I couldn't face borrowing my mates! From memory the engines weren't overly powerful, but in a car that weighs about the same as a packet of cigarettes it really doesn't have to work that hard.

That left hand sill needs sorting though, perhaps detaching, cleaning up and reattach?

Haha, They are good fun to drive, like you said the engine isn't overly powerful but as the car weights so little it works quite well together. They do guzzle up alot of fuel though, especially on the t-vis but you can chuck it through corners and it grips quite well.

Yeh, iv been planning on taking off the sills and having a clean up of that area in general, so will get that done after xmas.
