NAV Incorrect location on map

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone on here has come across this issue and managed to resolve it.

I bought a Leon only recently, and annoyingly the navigation doesn't show my correct location. I.e. I live near Portsmouth, it's showing on the map as though I live near Newbury, I bought the car from Aldershot! 😂

Things I've done since, updated the firmware was on 0345 now on latest 0369, updated maps on the seat SD card, still wrong location.

I've seen a few people say to reboot the system, I haven't tried this from the power button, but I think the firmware update will have done this already? Let alone just switching the car on and off?
I have a obd reader coming today (going to use car scanner pro as I already had it) to see what GPS signals it's getting and access GEM.

Probably worth noting as well that the compass on the dashboard is completely off, N when I'm heading S.

Anyone got any ideas? It's not the end of the world as I'm planning on unlocking full link anyway, but I'm an Engineer and like problem solving.

I'm sure you will have made sure that there is plenty of sky visible above you when testing the navigation! A faulty GPS receiver is possible. I think it is located in the dash - refer to this thread:

The compass is derived from the GPS signals. Could something be blocking or jamming the signal? Some electronics placed near the sensor for example. If you can find yourself a hand held GPS or use a GPS app on you phone you can check for interference. GPS Test in Android will show you the satellite signals.

Thanks for the thread link, I'll take a look in a sec.

I'd agree with looking out for those things, including the compass. There aren't any devices around that area.
It it was an intermittent problem, I'd agree, but it just seems the map is 50-60miles off centre, and rotated 180deg 😂 constantly.
Driving with it, it thinks I'm driving around Newbury area.
