Basically i'm fed up of my local dealer. Full of idiots who dont even know what an Ibiza MK5 is. Every time i've inquired about an accessory or anything for the car i've ended up having to find all the info for them to order it. Even when i bought my MK5 i was told it had Bluetooth and alloys only to find out when it arrived "oops i was wrong". Anyway back on subject....

I went into my local the other day to ask about lowering my car as with my new alloys and tires it looks like its on stilts. From my searching i came to the understanding that if they are Seat springs you wont void warranty. So i asked for pricing and fitting and both of the guys i was dealing with flat out denied that there are official Seat springs and they doubt they would come out with any. Plus if they did it would void you warranty anyway... So i was confused at this and came home to double check and found the springs straight away...

After some searching again i found that peoples opinions of these springs weren't that high (no pun intended) as there wasn't much of a difference. So i've decided to go for some other springs recommended to my by Jason on here. However i want to clarify that it will only void my spring warranty, as if thats the case i want to make sure i get my local dealer to realize this if i have any other problems, so they dont make out that the entire warranty is shot and make me pay for anything etc.

Here's the height of the car at the moment:

Thanks for any help in advance, i did do alot of searching but couldnt find a certain answer, i want to make sure when i approach them that i know i'm right lol

Right first up yes SEAT do do springs for the petrol and diesel bar the fr upwards. They are branded Eibach springs. If fitted at PDI they would be covered by the three years warranty on the car, 12 months iirc if after delivery. But either way will not effect warranty on other components.

Fitting aftermarket springs will not void the entire warranty. However related items such as bushes and things like trim rattles may not covered.

Ah right ok excellent i'm happy to fit after market springs if they are going to lower it more than the Seat branded ones. I've been through which springs to go for before and i think it was Jas who suggested 3 different types. These are the ones i'm after i just dont know enough if i need shortened shock absorbers etc?

Thanks again Techie, it goes without saying, your a massive help on these forums.

haha yeah that's why i asked because i mentioned it to someone who "knows their stuff" and they said it wouldn't be needed. But thought it'd be better to hear that from other people before trusting them lol

edit: Also to further that i wouldn't know where to begin with shortened shock absorbers either, this is big learning curve for me lol

If your going to go lower than 40mm then yes you are going to need shortened dampers. By which point you might as well get coil overs and set the ride height to exactly what you want.

Ah right thanks for clearing that up, big big help you've been mate. And thanks for pointing that out in regards to the PI springs. I'm now looking into some Apex. Wish i could afford to fork out for the dampeners and springs or even go for coilovers as you suggested but for now i'm just going to have to hope that a 35mm drop will be enough!

How long is a piece of string? Ha i wish that was true right now.... Well it depends, if i know for a fact that i'm going to be set up perfectly with no worries about quality etc i guess i'm willing to fork out 3-400 however originally i was aiming for £150 judging by what i had seen (the link above for example) That i can afford in the next week or so. If i'm pushing on what i said above then it's going to be a couple of weeks at least.

The reason i was aiming for a lot cheaper was because on my list of things to do i still want to get my windows tinted, which is going to set me back around £120 already. There's a margin of the cheaper the better and overly expensive if you get my drift.

Funny you should say that as i found them about five minutes after i made last post. They seem perfect for the price, it's just going to be a case of saving up for a while before i can comfortably afford them. It say's on car height adjustment, which i guess is perfect for getting the correct height, any idea how easy it actually is?

so what after market springs is there about from seat for the fr as i have looked but can only find 1.9 tdi 08> in 6j , as i want it lowering a bit as it seems monster truck ish , as a guess it would be coilovers ?

Pretty easy, just a case of winding down the spring platform.

Cheers Techie yet again lol. Right well it looks like i'll be going for them then. Time to start saving!!
