The mk1 formentor already has a pure engine sound mode, not sure about the cupra leon cos my leon is the mk3 290, i suspect the more powerful models will have this also

Comfort = exhaust flaps closed
Sport = exhaust flaps open, 40% soundcktor
CUPRA = exhaust flaps open, 100% soundaktor

Pure should be exhaust flaps open, 0% soundaktor

I have the perception that CUPRA mode also produces louder pops/bangs than Sport mode.

Not sure about the pops in cupra vs sport, i have mine set to individual with the engine in cupra, dcc in comfort and "engine sound" set to pure and i can hear the flaps click open when i switch from comfort to cupra/individual

I do know though that compared with the Cupra 290 3.5 the pops on the formentor are far louder when it's stock for stock, i was shocked at how loud they are in my formentor compared to what my 290 was at stock. The 290 had better dsg farts though.

I'm loving the rear light setup with the illuminated badge.
But the front is more generic and has less presence.
Interior controls are closer to where they should have been in the first place.

It's not causing to me to rush down to the dealer to upgrade.

As much as I like the looks it kind of reminds me of these...

The new Formentor is available on the UK Cupra website configurator - only three models though initially, V1 1.5 DSG, VZ1 272 Hybrid and VZ 272 Hybrid First Edition, available to order from 23rd July.

A shame there's only 5 colours (on the VZ1 272 Hybrid, only 2 colours on the VZ First Edition) and only one colour is no extra cost (Fjord Blue). Quite fancied a red one next...

Spoke to my dealer today, who tells me that prices and deals will be made available at the end of this month. Fingers crossed for some good deals so I can order one. Looking at the 333bhp model this time round.

In other words, different shades of dullness……?. A couple of nice vibrant colours wouldn’t go amiss.

It seems models are moving over from the 'old' Formentor configurator to the 'new' model configurator, preventing a direct comparison of prices and trim levels, like we've not all got a copy of the old price list...

The V1 and VZ1 models listed seem to be £1800-£2000 more expensive model for model. Don't know about any trim / mech upgrades other than the higher powered hybrid is now 272bhp rather than 245bhp.

I hope the pricing is a mistake as at the press launch they said pricing would stay the same. Hopefully that wasn't other markets only.

And they have the bare-faced cheek to charge a serious amount of wedge for their ditchwater dull colours whereas SEAT will happily paint your car in a cheery shade of red or blue for no extra money.

I hope those prices are wrong! As has been mentioned, at the launch event they said pricing would be the same as ‘old’ models and I’m looking at trading in my 21 plate PHEV 245bhp for a 333bhp petrol VZ2. If the prices have gone up by £2k, it might price me out of the market!!
