New aero front bumper and it's not quite right!

So, went through the insurance to get my fox destroyed aero front bumper on my 06' Sport replaced.

I went to pick it up today and the body shop has fitted one which has different grills to the honeycomb i expected. The guy said it's a K1 spec bumper. They said they couldn't get the old one.

What should I do? It no longer matches the back of the car. I'm not really a fan of the new grills.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Cheers

I maybe wrong but im sure seat no longer produce the original K1 bumpers. You could try going back to the body shop who carried out the repair and see if they still have your old bumper. If they do, remove the honeycombe side grills and fit them to your new front bumper. Just 2 or 3 screws hold them in place.

There shouldn't be any confusion, as the bodyshop have your car. They had the front damaged bumper, or what was left on the car after the incident, therefore should see the new replacement bumper wasnt the same, BEFORE they went through the trouble of spraying it etc etc etc.

They need to get this right - they put a different bumper on your car to what was there previously - not "like for like". You want them to rectify before you pay for the work carried out.

It is hard to walk away without your car, especially if you use need it to get to work, but they should correct this for you, being their mistake. They must be any to source the correct Aero bumper from somewhere!

The new K1 style bumpers are the same, its just the side grills that are different

Sorry, the bumper is from the aero kit. The guy fobed me off by telling me that it was K1 spec or something. he was talking rubbish obviously.

I've now just had them on the phone saying that the bumper is correct but the grills are wrong. i explained the the old aero grills have 3 screws holding them on and this new bumper only has 2. He's trying to tell me that the bumper is right but the grills are wrong. I'm currently trying to get part numbers from Dave @ Sere for the old aero kit to prove that he is wrong. They just don't want to paint a new front bumper.

They'll probably notice that the old grills dont fit the new bumper and glue them on or something!

Nightmare!

If they have the old bumper the part number will be on there, but like i said seat no longer produce the original k1 bumpers. You will have version 2 of the aero kit

I will do, the bumper does look identical, it's just the grills don't.

The centre grill also sits on the outside of the bumper, whereas the old honeycomb one sat on the inside.

I've still got the old side grills so I might even try fitting them tonight. I'm just concerned that there are only two screw holes, hopefully in the right places for the old grill.

I bloody knew something like this was going to happen!

Then whats the problem here (lol). So if the bumper SHAPE / DETAIL / DIMENSIONS are exactly the same, just the little black grilles, - yeah, get them to fit the ones from your old bumper - or just buy a couple of new ones yourself (just a few £ you'd think) and fit them yourself. Simples! :D

I presumed the FACELIFT K1 / Aero bodykit would be a "facelift" design, a bit different altogether - but if its the same, but they've just thrown in some different pattern plastic side grilles.... SEAT getting a bit lazy. :p

Ive been here already. Search for my thread about the saga. Basically the replacement bumpers have two fixing points for the side grilles, whereas the old ones had three. I ended up with the new honeycombe side grilles fitted but made sure they gave me the old horizontal slat style ones back from the old bumper. I dont want my car being accused of being a K1 lookalike!!!:D
