New company car, advice please.

Hi all,

It's a long time since I posted here, had an Altea for the past 3 years, having previously had a Leon Cupra and then a Leon Cupra R.

I would like your thoughts on my next car, I've decided on the Leon FR but need advice on the engine choice. I appear to have a choice of 4 and would like any '+' and '-' of each and what would be the best option.

170 Diesel
170 Diesel DSG (apparently being launched next month?)
211 Petrol Cupra
211 Petrol DSG

Do you care about tax?

I've worked out the costs of both in terms of tax and I know the petrols will cost me more. I could afford to run either, I really want to know if there is much difference between the two or more to the point, would anyone pick a 170 diesel over a 211 petrol if they could have either?

When I drove them back to back (albeit it the 197 FR) they were both comparable to each other.

The Petrol certainly was more 'fun' when on the boil, but the diesel was more useful for driving about.

DSG is nice when either plodding in town, or kicking hell out of it & pretending you're on a playstation. But for regular quick driving it's hard to call which I'd prefer.

It's a tough one to call. I'd probably err towards the manual shifting PD170, as it will be quicker as standard. Unless you're going to get a sneaky remap in - in which case I'd go for one of the petrols.

The diesels offer long range without fuelling but a lot of people have irritating DPF problems the petrol engines are very responsive and probably more fun. If you can afford it I would heartily reccomend a petrol DSG. There is no doubt though that the diesels are no longer smelly or noisy and with higher torque allow a long legged distance companion which you may find attractive. Certainly not slow but I watch in horror as people stand on a grease slick with plastic gloves on to re-fuel. Pesonally the noise on tickover makes me wince too- although the transit style rattle is happily virtually gone.
Some people are totally happy with them - a pal had an A4 cabrio with the potent 2.5 V6 but to me it was too much like a london cab compared with the silkyness of its petrol sisters.
As it isn't your car I'm assuming you are not planning power mods both re-map well though.

Candy White
18" Black Orion Alloys
Bi-Xenon's
Convenience Pack
Bluetooth Pack

For delivery 1st week December.

Can't wait.

Does any one know how the combination of Bluetooth and Convenience pack works, they both come with 2 extra speakers, so do I get 4 extra speakers or just 2 between the packs?

probably just the two.

Start saving for a remap. These remap straight to 275hp, as they have a hpfp as standard.
