New engine in Bocanegra - which is it?

Hi,

The dealer has just put a new engine in my Bocanegra under warranty.

I've only had the car about 6 months and it's only done 10k miles! I thought I'd be OK as it's a late 2011 car with the battery in the boot, but a couple of weeks ago it suddenly developed a misfire which turned out to be loss of compression on 1 cylinder.

Anyway, I was just wondering - how can I tell if the new engine is CAVE or CTHE?

are there no stickers anywhere around the new engine. i think its the CAVE which is the newer one

CTHE Is the newer one. There is a thread with a picture I uploaded of my new engine. Which has a new additional lump of all on the left hand side of the cam cover which just sits under the engine cover. Near to where the standard blow off valve is.

There's an orange sticker on my engine with a 2012 date on it. The car is a 59 plate. Does this mean it's had an engine rebuild?

More likely a new engine with all the problems these cars suffered.

the engine code is underneath the spare wheel in the boot. don't know if it will have been changed if you got a new engine though.

I remember seeing that picture on the forum, can't find it now though!

I know my first engine was a CAVE. Did the earliest Cupras and Bocanegras have CAVE engines? I thought the CAVE was a revised one fitted later on, or am I wrong? I know CTHE is the latest...


Also, anyone know what happens with servicing? My car is due a 2nd year major service in 8 months... but with it having a new engine in, is it worth doing?
