Hi all,

Following my 'looking for' post I picked up the 10 plate Exeo today. I traded in my average condition Alfa GT and got the Exeo for a good enough price. Have enough left over to get it mapped with plenty of change.

The car is metallic grey and immaculate inside and out. The interiors on these are so nice :funk: and the Bose stereo is the icing on the cake.

It's done 31,000 miles and had the cam belt done by the dealer. No advisories on the MOT either. Happy days. No service required for 12000 miles either.

It turns out it doesn't have a USB port in the centre console, I was a little disappointed at that. However it does have the 'iPod connector' in the glove box. So my first question is, can I get my android phone connected to that somehow? With the ability to charge it too? The bluetooth phone works fine, so that's a nice touch, as does the aux input.

On the roads I'm really impressed with the ride quality and the engine. Only 143bhp but still holds its own, and averaging 55mpg home I was a happy chap. Only downside is quite a lot of turbo lag accelerating in 5th and 6th, but what do you expect.

Very very good cars these are. I've owned a couple of nice exec saloons in the past and this has blown them both away with ease. I saw a couple of gorgeous 159's on the way home but was happy with my choice, no regrets :p

Thanks to those who shared their experiences.

Now... I need to get myself to angel tuning for a remap.

And here's a pic of the interior, only one I've got so far.

The car is ex lease, feels brand new all over.

Took it for a spin to cheltenham and back last night and really am impressed by this car. Can hardly feel any of the potholes on the roads and the turning circle is awesome for a saloon. The car phone works really well and I averaged 55mpg no problem again. Surprisingly quick off the mark as well.

Well done mate, I'm glad you've found 'your' car, and that you're happy with it. You did well getting the cam belt done too!! :D

Cheers :) Yeah that was a touch. It had passed it's 4 year mark so they did it when they took it in.

Any ideas about the ipod connector? It doesn't even look like it takes a normal ipod cable, which are usb at one end and ipod at the other. I didn't get any cable with it either. The only adaptor I've found for exeo's is very expensive as well!

There should be a bag of adapters for the various Apple devices.

I've no idea how well it works with Apple kit though, as I'm an Android geezer :)

looks like there is an adapter already in place, it should just pull out

Ah ok, I'll give that a go! It looks like some sort of slot to put a small iPod into. Cheers!

It's a Seat iPod console apparently. Pull it out and there's a wire cartridge plugged into the back. I think I'll just revive my old iPod or something, the adaptors for android seem expensive.

No way to connect your Android to your hi-fi that I know of I'm afraid - personally I just copied all my MP3s to an SD card and play them that way - I've got a 2x USB port that goes in the lighter socket for charging - it's okay but it doesn't chuck out many amps so not everything charges immediately - my S3 refuses to acknowledge it's plugged in, for a few miles anyway and then starts charging oddly.

Bums. Currently I just charge my phone while using the aux input. I'll get myself an sd card I think, see how well the music organises itself on that. Cheers.

No worries,

SD card thing is easy - the car will display whatever folders you construct on the card and play in the order you put them in - I personally just have one folder with all my music in alphabetical order - but my Wife prefers whole albums so her card organised with each album in it's own folder.

It's easier to do, than explain.

Worth remembering though it only plays MP3's if you buy your music via iTunes it's often in another format (name escapes me) and the car won't play it - it's easy to convert though.

I believe they are AAC files. It's OK all mine are normal MP3 - thanks again, doesn't sound too bad. I can organise by genre etc.

Hmm car says I've used nearly a quarter tank and I've only done 130 miles. However the computer says 600 miles left. Hope 130 isnt actually a quarter, my gt was better than that!

A real 'piece of string' question - as you've "nearly" used quarter of a tank lets assume you'll get to 150 before then - 600 miles from a tank is pretty bloody good.

Real world Full to completely empty on the gage in an Exeo is 60 litres (although I believe it actually holds more) or 13.2 gallons in old money.

600 / 13.2 = 45mpg, as a real world MPG average that's pretty good - yes they'll easily see the other side of 50 at a constant 70mph, but even if you're repping your way up and down the motorway all day, you're still going to have to drive to the motorway, accelerate up to motorway speeds and driving in Britain means you'll rarely hold a constant speed for long - certainly not 70.

If it makes you feel any better, you're getting more than me on average - but I only live 3 miles from work on mostly 30mph roads - I travel a lot during the day but it's usually short 15 mile journeys up A Roads - I've got an ST which is probably not as aerodynamic and I've always got roof bars on - and at the weekend there's usually a bike or two on the roof.

If it's 60 full to empty then that's not so bad :) the gt was 65. Pretty sure the exeo holds more yes. It's looking a bit better now, dial seems to move around a bit. It seems it wasn't actually a quarter empty.

Tank is actually 70 litres (On ST anyway) - the last 10L is reserve and doesn't register on the trip.
As stated, I get exactly 60l in from brim full to empty (i.e.No miles left on trip computer)

Last week I did over 1200 miles around the roads of Ireland - average mpg over 55, so well chuffed, as hardly a straight road in sight!.

Mine is the Ecomotive version though - all the power, with all the economy - just brilliant!
Dave.

That's impressive stuff - I have to admit, firstly being a bit cynic, and secondly not being really won over with the idea of 'Ecomotive' the 120PS version made me think it would be underpowered and frastating to drive and I couldn't understand how stop-start and low resistence tyres could make much difference to the 143 in what is really a motorway mile muncher - but I can't imagine ever seeing those figures from mine!

I keep telling myself that using 'sport' tyres means I can take corners and roundabouts quicker (which is true) and as such would save me fuel as I wouldn't be accelerating so much on the other side (which isn't) ;)
