new facelift mk5 on order but will it have rear speakers?

Hi folks, i am new here i did place a brief introduction in the new members section, i currently have the 1.4 petrol 60 plate Ibiza Goodstuff which has the 6 speaker sound system and i have been very happy with it however my 3 years finance is up and i just ordered the new 1.2 tsi FR from the factory with some extras

here's the question when i ordered i assumed it would have the same 6 speakers but apparently not according to the dealer they all have 4 now, however he had a 5dr of the same model i just ordered and he said its a recent build and when i tried the cross-fader its there and it has all 6, so i thought it must be only on the 5 doors that have 6, so i then asked to see an SC of the same spec and build period (although it was sold) it also had 6 speakers.

so now i'm confused i really like my music and i thought the 60 plate had one of the best systems i heard at this price point all i did was add a sub for a bit of kick, so am i going to be left with a 4 speaker bulls up or is it going to be the 6 speaker?

my order date was 5.10.13, and my estimated delivery is late December or early January, does anyone have a model from late summer that has 6 speakers or know whats going on as i would be glad to put my mind at rest because a retro fit is not looking too easy if i have to pay for a stereo re-program

I have a 1.2 FR SC, my build date was April 2013 and my car also has the six speakers fitted. I suspect that may just confuse things even more.
I had assumed it got the six speakers as it has the Seat portable system fitted, that is just me guessing mind.

That's the same spec i ordered only i added the tinted windows and climate control, maybe they changed it and decided to fit them again :/

i hope so anyway because i cant put up with only front speakers i would have to fit them myself but i have heard the fade function isnt active on the cars with 2 speakers.

The only extra's I added were a spare wheel (that wouldn't affect the stereo.....lol) and the technology pack. I can't see anything in the tech pack about the stereo, so fingers crossed you get six speakers.

hopefully you are right, i just pulled the stereo out on my 60 plate to see what sort of connections they are, and they look like canbus so im guessing the ones without rear speakers wont have the pin in the connector block to fit a wire too, not sure if i could buy the pins to attach the wire and then repopulate the connector with extra pins.

the wiring would be easy im an electrical technician by trade, so i have no problem aquiring a few speakers from ebay from a mk5 (i presume they are the same) and running the wires to the front, its just getting the radio activated for the extra speakers with vag com thats gonna be a pain and expensive.

Mine was also built around April 13 (1.2 TSI FR) and has 6 speakers (front, rear, tweeters). I was under the impression when I bought the car that it was a 4 speaker system (front + rear) without the tweeters in the pillars but that wasn't the case. I'm sure yours will be the same.

thats good to know, thanks i just hope mine also has 6 then, i wonder why they dropped the rears from all models in 2012, its seems like an insane move to make.

some people on forums i found using google claim it was a marketing scam so they could use the term 4 speakers interchangeably to describe the front+tweeters or rear + front depending on how many penny's they want to pinch without changing the brochure every time :/

Mine was the end of 2012 , before they put in the new stereo , but still the facelifted one,
mine came with 6 but that was because i ordered the bluetooth and phone pack.

The sales person said as part of that pack they include 2 extra speakers, actually main reason i got it!

hey guys i just thought id follow up, i just got the car today very pleased with it, and it did come with 6 speakers and the stereo sounds better than the pre facelift, the speakers are also slightly different material than the old ones, the old ones were paper, the new ones are like a kind of black rubberised material with rubber edges instead of foam and they seem to handle much more volume and bass than the ones on the old car.

i wired in my subwoofer which was a little harder than on the old car due to the blank grommit in the firewall no longer being there, so i had to take the glove box out and run the live through the grommit with the bonnet release....

all went well and no broken clips which is good going i think since i had all the rear quart panels off and the lower door trims, also they changed the rear seatbelt bolts from 17mm hex to multispline, so it made fitting the earth for the amp that little bit harder but its all done now.

so thanks for those who followed this thread.
