Can I install the update manually? My current software in my 2021 Ateca is 0777, and my workshop says there's no update available for my car.

FYI, for anyone wondering if you can get 0883 update OTA - I can confirm that you indeed can. It's just that it will appear on your infotainment screen completely randomly, while prompting the system for update by yourself won't do anything. So basically it's up to the system when it will decide to push the update to you, but you can't force the update.

My '23 Ateca came with the 0837 software. In the car's infotainment system I connected to the internet via my phone's hotspot to make me a Primary User. Going into the System Settings -> System Information and tapping on the gray "Update software" button didn't initiate a check for update but simply brought me to the next screen where you could choose between four different types of updates (System, Radio, etc.).

So what I've been doing later is sometimes keeping my car's infotainment connected to the internet via my phone's hotspot for the duration of my rides. I've also been checking for the update manually every now and then in the System Information screen by tapping on the gray "Update Software" button. Nothing really helped anyway.

BUT: After a few weeks (or was it cca. 1 month) of owning the car, the 0841 update suddenly popped up one morning when I turned on the car. I downloaded it OTA (via phone's hotspot) and successfully installed it.

Another month or so later, just recently, the 0883 update appeared out of the blue on one morning when turning on the car again. So I updated OTA again.

In short, you shouldn't be paying a penny to anyone for these updates. It just seems that these updates will appear at random when you least expect them. I suggest you try my above steps and hope for the update to appear some day. :)

How can i connect may ateca with the Internet via my phone?
I don't know if you have Android or iOS but on an iPhone you simply open Settings -> Personal Hotspot and enable "Allow Others to Join". Then on your Ateca screen you need to find the "Wifi" section in your infotainment Settings and just find your phone listed there to pair the two. When paired with your phone's hotspot connection, you can then use the phone's data for internet connection.

Thank you very much

Was this totally out of contract to connect services so you are dipping into firmware updates for free ?.

Nope. I'm simply connecting my car to my phone's hotspot every now and then to check for updates and was lucky to get the OTA updates that way - no dipping anywhere - as it should be, as I'd expect nothing less than free firmware/software updates when purchasing a 25k+ car!

So it is free except the £25k. No £120 a year or what ever. People might have got map updates that way . Their was one person out of contract who got a map update as I recall. See what @East Yorkshire Retrofits says, the Guru.

You mean map update OTA? Kind of doubt it. But you can get the map update here. My maps seem well outdated (21.11.), so I’ll wait till next month when the next map update is suppsedly coming out, then give it a try to update via usb.

Or even here before Seat stop messing about:

It's a thread running like the mib2 one. The updates are universal across the Vag brand but elements of the Vag brand neglect to publish them. Seat was bad at this. Users sniff out well these before they are published on Vag servers before the web page is released. We have the July ones for mib3 except Europe at the minute. The November 2025 release for mib2 standard and ofcourse the mib2 high ones for June we got in April or something. The Vag brand staff mess up the zip process so rather waiting for them to sort it out use another brand since it's the same release.

The car needs to have a key user setup, privacy settings cannot be set to private/do not share. Those are the only prerequisites for OTA updates

There are certain versions that cannot/are not updated OTA so if your system is particularly out of date then you could be stuck until an offline update is performed.

From one of Seat's bulletins:

Technical background
Just like computers or smartphones, vehicles have built-in software that is fully integrated in the vehicle. Over-the-Air updates ensure that the vehicle’s software remains up to date by using the vehicle’s network connectivity. Updates are designed to improve the operation and performance of your vehicle and can include new features or functions.

Procedure so the customer can update the vehicle remotely:
1.- The prerequisites for carrying out an Over The Air update are that the customer must be enrolled, registered as the Primary User and there must be an active update campaign.
2.- The customer will receive a notification on the control panel and screen (ABT) of the radio and navigation system that they must accept in order to proceed with the download

The navigation ones couldn't have been getting through from @jon25 navigation release but the firmware one weedled in. Yes those that like to go cloaked on privacy doent get a firmware update offered.

May be those that don't want to take out connect services can get some of the firmware updates untill a big bump occurs in the road where the dealer needs to do that and for navigation you use the offline files. Means you are still missing traffic, lock remotely, send map destinations, ev heater on etc.
