New gearbox, now reverse lights and senors wont work.

Hi,

My 52 reg 1.9 TDi needed a new gearbox after 80,000 miles. Now I find that when I engage reverse gear that the reversing lights do not come on nor the parking sensor (though it does if I use the switch). Is this a simple fix? Fuses and bulbs seem okay.

Mechanic told me that he has seen a few of the VAG six speed gearboxes fail. Is this true?

It'll be the reverse gear switch on the box either not plugged in or failed. Simple and cheap fix.
