Hi everyone - i'm new here.

My Girlfriend bought a car from a member on here. The Anthracite Ibiza Cupra that shock_xe owned.

Only picked it up yesterday but v.v.pleased with it... until last night.

Was driving on the M5 and hit a rabbit. Later that night the temp light on the dials shot up, then went to minimum. This happened afew more times until we had to pull over due to starting to see the windscreen steam up.

Hopefully caught it before any damage was done.

Had a look and there is a metal pipe running under the car. Under the engine from left to right that has a kink in it. I dont know if this 'kink' is the design of the pipe or if it was damage from the rabbit.

Also there is a 7mmx3mm hole in a plastic 4-way pipe that joins the header tank, block, rad and sumthing else...

So need to replace this and see what happens.

Oil pressure was fine, temp was up alittle but nothing too much. Still above normal running temp tho.

Any idea's would be a great help. As said, she only bought it yesterday and it's a shame to have this sort of trouble from day 1. She's gutted cuz she loves the car so much she just wants to get back out in it again. :(

I'm new to seat's and other VAG engines, have to admit i'm know alot more about fords but do love this car!

Dont think its a fault with the car due to any one fitting faulty parts. Purely some v.bad luck!!

Thanks in advance.

Conor.

how big is the metal pipe under the car. could it just be a boost pipe??? i would replace that part of the pipe first but the 1.8. 20v engine is very commen for the plastic empeller on the water pump breaking up! which is why its overheating??? if you have the engine running and open the header tank bottle (be careful) the small top pipe should be putting coolant back into the header tank, if not your looking at a broken water pump

Where did the rabbit hit? Fans affected? aircon compressor? - just thinking about the windows steaming up?

I'll take a pic of the pipe underneath the car for u guys...

As for where the rabbit hit, it went stright under the middle. car is low but has a leon splitter on the bottom so it mainly hit that - the ONLY thing low enough to hit was this pipe.

As for window steaming up - a cool night and hot water coming out the engine bay from the header tank/the hole is probably the cause of that. The only fluids coming from the car I'm aware of are coolant. As it covered everything. Least the engine is pretty clean now...

free steam clean anyone?

Thanks for the comments, anymore ideas would be appreciated...

Thats a power steering pipe, from what i remember. looks a bit damaged i would get it replaced as it might be restricting the pump from fluid

IIRC Mike had the Neuspeed ARB's, i know (his business partner) Addo had them, and i think mike did too, but thats aint the ARB.

I'd say Mikey (above post) is right, get it replaced, and the other bit aswell, and see how things are with that.

You can try VW and Skoda garages, aswell as Seat, if your local seat place are as useless as most peoples.

Let me know what parts they are and numbers once you get them, and i'll add them to the part numbers list.

i thought that was an air conditioning pipe myself cant quite remember where it went went i was last under my car.
