Once it's had a generic map on it after being opened up, it shouldn't be locked out via obd mapping, I had 4 guys try to map over obd but failed which is becoming more common supposably ! Last guy had to open the ecu and map the chip Direct , he explained how possibly my ecu had had a trial map in the past which embeds into a different chip related to the immobiliser, ( excuse how vague that sounds, I'm not going To pretend I know the process of a map) he showed me my ecu's control parameters.

The fella did say if you put it on vagcom the error code will still come up,as its the other part of the ecu, thats affected
 
Sending off ecu first class tomorrow,so hopefully i should get it back by thursday

Right,im getting my ecu back tomorrow with a stage 1 map,is there a certain way to fit it, like battery connected or disconnected,
 
Mines a belter at stage 1, 210 brake compared to a lad i knows standard 180, his feels like driving a normal 1800 car compared to mine, before you do the remap its worth doing a few mods to help it breathe better etc
