New Leon owner with a few questions

Firstly, would just like to say I've been checking these forums on and off for the past few months and I must say, some decent helpful stuff on here.

Secondly, my diy and electronic skills are somewhat limited so please bear with me if I sound a little confused. I'm sure we will get there in the end!!

Now, I recently bought a MK2 Leon 1.9 TDI Stylance on an 07 plate.

So far so good, loving everything about it other than one small niggle communications wise.

The car has come with a nokia handsfree kit connected and what I believe is a Nokia bluetooth thingy (CK-7W?). It also has what I think is the large dash display that 'should' show my phone contacts etc.... and allow me to receive calls using the steering wheel buttons.

The cradle that charges the phone will only fit a Nokia E50. For short term use I have gone out and bought one of these and the phone charges fine and calls can be made/accepted by pressing the buttons on the phone. Voices are clear and calls seem fine through the speaker system (little speaker up by the rearview mirror). However, the dash display will only display something along the line of 'no phone connected'.
Switching the phone bluetooth on really confuses the hell outta me!!

Now question time.
1) Can I easily change the nokia cradle to fit another phone (Nokia or other make). Would I need to do anything other than 'remove and replace' the cradle?
2) Does anyone have a list of newer phones that will connect with the Leon dash so I can use the steering controls to answer calls etc..?
3) What the hell does the little CK-7W round thingy do!!??!!
4) Would it be better to forget all about the cradle and do it some other way?

Any help would be much appreciated and I can of course provide pics if need be.

Cheers

I'd suggest that you have the bluetooth system, therefore should be able to just connect via bluetooth and forget about the nokia stuff.

start the car, then turn the bluetooth on on your phoen and do a search - it should come back with "seat_hu" .. connect to that using code 1234 - all done :)

Worse case the "seat_hu" bluetooth system has been disabled because of the nokia kit is a bluetooth one, so do a search and see if you get a nokia one, if you do - use access code 0000 to connect - and try that.

Cheers Tam, I'll try that in the morning.

Should the dash display then show my contacts etc...??

Only a crappy old E50 now.

Sorry mate ... i seem to remember that that is one of the phones that *doesn't* work with the seat system ..... dunno why .. just some sort of problem with Nokia's software and bluetooth on that range of phones.

probably why you've been having issues..

new phone time me thinks :)

i used this seat list to find compatible phones,it was a while ago but i assume the list is updated regularly.oops! i've just tried to give you the link but it won't let me because i have less than 15 posts.sorry! but if you go on seat.co.uk and do a search for bluetooth phone compatibility you should get the list.

Hello again guys, Im back with another question.

Further to my previous posts in this thread I have gone and got myself an HTC Hero and connect it to my Leon via bluetooth. The nokia car kit is still in the car but I dont use it.

One thing thats been annoying me tho and hope someone can help.

The phone connects to the car perfectly and I can dial out and answer calls via the dash. However, when I do this, should I not be able to hear the caller through my car speakrs? The stereo pops into 'phone', mutes the radio, but I then have to put my phone onto 'speakerphone' in order to hear the other end. Nothing at all comes out of the car speakers no matter what I do with the radio volume. The phone thinks it has connected to a 'bluetooth headset', which Im guessing is the car.

Am I doing something wrong or do you think it is something to do with the nokia kit?........ Do I need a bluetooth headset.....surely that defeats the object of connecting to the car?

One other thing I should mention. My cig lighter doesnt work, Im guessing whoever installed the nokia kit has disconnected the cig lighter to get the power for the car kit?

I'd be grateful for any ideas/solutions as I've searched everything I can think of online.

Cheers

I swapped out my standard stereo some time ago for the factory nav unit, but if I recall correctly on the setting there is a TLVol setting which you need to turn up which should be visible when you click the Prog button:)

Cheers Nick...I think I have played around with that button a fair bit with no luck! Will double check again this morning tho.

OK, I've hit the prog button and have TLVOL and TPVOL settings.

TLVOL is on 7 (the highest it will go)

TPVOL is on +5 (again, the highest it will go).

I've also turned the actual volume control up to about 20.

Callers seem to be able to hear me fine (even when whispering) but I dont get a thing coming from my car speakers, except for a bit of hissing due to the volume being turned right up!!!

Totally confused.
