Hello All,

I picked up my 2018 Red, Manual, Seat Leon Cupra 300 on Friday after trading in my much loved 2008, Manual, 350z which I owned for just shy of 6 years.
I test drove a lot of cars to find something to replace my beloved 350z and the Cupra seems to be the perfect balance of practical, engaging to drive, fun & comfortable.
A new job role forced the sale of my 350z as over the next year i'll be doing 4 times my usual mileage and the old girl didn't seem up for the fight anymore.
It took me quite a while to find the car I liked as I wanted fairly low miles, a manual gearbox, virtual dash and red or blue paint. I can't believe how many cars I had to view and then walk away from because it looked like they'd followed a gritting lorry down the motorway at 70mph!

I have lots of questions to ask as I'm still getting familiar with the car but ill do my due diligence and have a browse through the search function first before asking lots of silly newbie questions. But in the meantime, I quite like the little pops and bangs on a rev up to about 4000rpm but struggling to work out what causes it as it seems to do it sometimes in sport mode, sometimes in Cupra mode and sometimes not at all. I know its a little childish but it didn't half bring a smile to my face on the way home after leaving my 350z behind. So any pointers would be appreciated for annoying my friends and family when I see them next

The 350z-uk forum was always a fairly good place to get friendly advice and troubleshoot issues so I hope here is the same also.

Im hoping to see some Leon Cupra's out and about on the road and give them a flash/wave like the 350z owners used to do.

Thanks,
Matt.

The pops / bangs are lift off (accelerator) overruns, from what I've read around the forums it seems the manual is a bit more inconsistent and quieter? So just drive it harder :).. My Mk4 DSG 300 even with GPF finds every opportunity it can to fart / crackle and pop if the sports transmission / sport / Cupra mode is engaged and it's far from quiet.

On a night when it's lit up like a mobile disco the car really does help one connect with their inner chav y'know. :D

Need to go for a drive without the other half to try out a few things to work out the best way to cause it. Need to know how to release the inner chav every now and again 🤣

Managed to find a way to make it pop and bang a little whilst sitting on the M25 in the traffic.

Lets just say the lady next to me was less than pleased

Might be time to have a look at a mid resonator delete. Although I want one that's truly reversible without cutting anything if possible.

Thanks for that, it tries to sell an add on exhaust cutter on their website so im assuming you've got to cut through rather than unbolt a section?
May I ask as I can see you've taken this off your car, did you just fit the extra clamp provided that came with the kit to hold on the original resonator?

The 350z exhaust was 3 sections bolted together and you could replace front, mid or rear parts fairly easy. I've not had chance to have a good luck under the Cupra yet but is it just one welded system?

Hi,

I had it fitted by a local garage, it does involve cutting the pipe. It was reverted back to stock when the car went back (lease). I got the replacement part from the supplier so I could sell on the kit as a complete kit (which includes the part to put it back to stock).

I think it's one welded system.

cheers,

Scott
