Hi everyone my name is Daniel and ive been using this site for well over a year now. I have only now registed and am able to finally comment on posts. I would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who has givin there knowledge and time to help out others with issues regarding the seat leon m1 cupra r. Since using this site i have managed to do quite a few things i would of been unsure of doing myself or it costing a bomb. In 2014 i brought a very poorly 2003 m1 lcr 225bhp bam. It needed a lot of work to get it feeling better again and it wasnt cheap but now to date is the best car ive driven/had so far. I previously had a 2.0l mr2 rev 1 T-top turbo and was shocked how good the lcr is. I brought my lcr knowing the clutch was slipping and as it was a high milage i got it cheap. The car did come with a 290bhp rolling road read out but had no fmic or supporting mods, i guessing they were removed. The car went into garage when my gear box got stuck in 3rd gear. This was fixed and at the same time i had cambelt, water pump, and aload of other bits done. Since then its been floorless and ive now started to mod it bit by bit. I now have 3inch dp, decat 3inch exhaust, all samco hoses, i fitted a welly cooler last week 600×300 and cut out front bumper.it has a 4 bar fuel reg and has been running very rich which isnt great but better than running to lean. I was happy with the car till i came up agenst another lcr and learnt that its running very under powered. ( this happened on my privet road ) "cough". Anyway so today i decided to try a different air filter (cone) and while the old one was off i de-meshed the MAF thinking it cant be any worse. So far its the best thing ive done. It boasted the best since ive had it, so well it poped a boast pipe off at a crap join i did on the intercooler piping. I have read mixed reviews and i am looking to have it mapped so may have to put normal maf back on but it worked really well on mine. Next week car gets polybushed front end and coilovers so im now starting to have a semi serious car. If i have any questions to the more experienced lcr owners its how hard is a short shifter to fit and is it worth and if you was me what would you be looking to do next? I am going to be doing a big turbo build but not on my lcr an s3 but without going to crazy what mods would you advise me. Thankyou

P.S As for de-meshing your maf, i think it's a mistake tbh mate. IMO the mesh is there to evenly distribute the airflow as it passes over the sensor so that you get the correct reading. Without the mesh your maf will probably read the airflow incorrectly and mess your fueling up etc.

Hey matty cheers for replying and thanks for the info. I found out the hard way about my maf sensor housing when i got it on the motorway. Its a good way to cook a turbo as its constant high boost. It went like stink round town but its not good now its getting colder as well. Experiment over lol.
