Hey everyone, first time posting and I've got a few questions.

I've got a 08 Tdi 140 Ref Sport and I want to do a bit of subtle modding. I'm planning on getting some 18" wheels (would love Andromedas but the RS4s look favourite at the moment) and I'd like to boost the performance a bit.

Would I notice it if I fitted a new air filter like the K&N ones? Seems a cheap 1st time mod.

I'm interested in a remap but I'm concerned about the warranty and fuel consumption. How much would a first stage remap cost? Would there be any major decrease in mpg? I do a lot of motoway miles.

Where can I get a black grill surround from?

Are there any other non-warranty ending mods I can do?

Cheers,

Scott.

I doubt you'd notice any change from the new filter, I certainly didn't from mine.. Best thing to do would be a remap, I'm currently running Bluefin on mine, its good because you can just put it on and remove it yourself with the handset. I do quite a lot of miles in mine and haven't noticed any decrease in MPG after putting the map on. It will screw your warranty if they notice any remap however.. Thats the risk you take! :(

Try seresmotors on here for the black grille.. Thats where I got mine from! :)

Hope that helps!

The K&N filters will not change MPG. I had on on my Ibiza PD130, (although the green panel filter but essentially the same). The remap in my case improved my mpg, my average before remap was around 49mpg (over 2000+ miles), this slowly increased to 53 over the next few months.

Warranty is always the issue, as Street said you can get maps that you can put on and turn off yourself.

Cheers fellas.

I'm wishing I'd never found this site now, it's going to cost me a fortune!

Any ideas how much a remap will cost? I like the thought of the switchable remaps, sounds like a better option. Especially if it improves my mpg.

Rang the stealers (already using the lingo!) today and ordered a black cupra grill. Don't have any in stock though and no ETA on when they will arrive.

Cheers for the replies.

Your looking at around £450+, there are a few big remap players out there, look on the companies bit in the forum, and it will give you an idea what power etc etc....they sometimes do offers too!

Just emailed seremotors, hopefully he'll come through.

I'm trying to find somewhere that does remaps near Wigan.

Has anyone got any horror stories about remaps breaking engines/voiding warranties?

Cheers all.

Have a look into Bluefin.. They can usually be had for around £300 and you can take it off and put it back on yourself very easily. I'm running my FR with it on and have had it dynod at 200bhp! So a nice 30 increase! :)

Mmmmm, looks like I'll be getting a Bluefin upgrade soon then.

I'll see how I'm fixed next month.

So far I've got some 18" andromedas, cupra grill and tinted windows coming up.

The bluefin should top it off nicely!

Not being funny but some on here reckon that the 170 engine makes almost 200 as stock so your 300 quid may have only given you about 5 bhp?

Did you get a before and after result?

I don't think mine was kicking out that much before.. It felt like a totally different car afterwards. Some cars will be different and push out a lot more than the stock power.

The power delivery is meant to be alot better with Bluefin

Yeh it is a lot better! :)
