Hi guys

Registered here ages ago when I was looking into Cupras.. but never got round to buying one!

Thinking of buying one to run as my daily and went to view one earlier today..

Just after an opinion on whether or not its a good deal as I dont know much about Cupras:whistle:

Essentially its a

Candy White 58 Cupra K1 (Genuine, I've checked :-o)
68000 miles
Xenon lights
NO service history at all, but last serviced in current ownership about 1 year ago
V5 in current owners name/address etc
MOT till Nov, Tax ends this month
Good brakes/tyres remaining
HPI clear and no major repairs from what I saw
*Not allowed to post pics as I have under 15 posts!*

Car looked good from a distance, but I noticed some bad bits..

Aftermarket alloys (Team Dynamics) all curbed and paint flaking in areas.
Front bumper badly stone chipped
Deep scratch on rear passenger side door
Missing sideskirt jacking cover (I gather this is a comon problem!)

Interior was very dirty, smelt of cigarettes, water stains on seats, scratches on dashboard.. just generally not cared for well etc
Worn steering wheel (volume button was spammed out of its life!)
Worn driver side main carpets as no mats were used :(

The car drove fine .. everything was sound just noticed the alignment was off and O/S brake light bulb blown

She agreed to £7600 for the car but that was based on pictures before viewing the car.. Vibe is that the seller might take £7400-£7500 as shes looking to get rid quick. Basically its her Brothers car but he cant be arsed to sell it so she just wants to get rid, he has obviously just used and abused it!

Didn't buy it as I was worried about the outlay to get the car sorted (I like my cars clean)

My estimates :

Cambelt & waterpump + Full service £500
Paint bumper and door £350
Needs a deeeeep clean £150-200
Wheel alignment £50-100
Refurb alloys £100

So after reading all of this what do you guys think?? Should I buy it, is it even worth £7600?

Thanks for reading!

Sounds like a cheap car as a 58 plate K1 in good nick with FSH will set you back around the 11-13K mark. So if you are sure the car is sound and the lack of service history don't bother you too much then for a relatively small outlay you can get the car up to scratch again.

mmm.. getting his sister to sell it? so hes either in prison awaiting trial and needs to get rid before proceeds of crime catches up with him.
or
he's using her as a shield so you cant ask him awkward questions and she can simply say "as far as i know its ok"..

I'd be looking into this first, who's got the legal right to sell regardless of HPi checks.

If Jase is right about prices, even at 11k, your estimate of approx £1200 + £7600 is still £2k+ short.

you know about the old saying...'If something looks....'

Can you get hold of the reg (or link), someone on here might know the car.
Personally sound s a bit dodgy, especially with no history. Doesn't sould like its been looked after well.

If its to good to be true then it probably isn't. Personally I would save the extra money and buy one with plenty history and what not at least you'll know where it's been and what it's done. Your not me thought so like above of your not to fussed about history and want to save a couple grand and make it sound again then that's your call regardless of our opinions.

If you do buy it I hope everything's sound for you dude :)

Thanks guys yes thats what I was worried about

Didn't think about the legal right to sell issue, glad its been brought up!! The girl selling is is a work colleague of a good friend of mine so its not like a random sale

BUT the car really has not been looked after well at all, almost sinful the way it has been treated!

The registration number is SG58 DLE and its a White Cupra K1, I've got some pictures but I need a few more posts to share them (no for sale advert)

Have had second thoughts and I think its probably not worth the effort for what is essentially an abused, high mileage, niche car with no service history..
