Firstly hi names Craig and just after abit of help and info.

At the moment i have a Ford escort mk6 Rs2000 2.3 waits for the booing anyway im looking at getting a seat leon cupra R 225 05 reg next and just want to know what are they like to live with any major problems with them what to look out for?

If i get one im looking at getting it around 300bhp ish maybe more which shouldn't be too hard and will depend on funds and what not and want to know would i get any problems if i were to get that ie engine parts failing would the brakes cope i know there about 220bhp ish standard so shouldnt have too many problems but would rather ask than blowing something because of a heavy right foot.

so thats about it all the help and info would be gratefully received.

theres not to many problems as i find them reliable when coming into our garage but i think the dump valve and the vacuum side of them are rubbish as the pipes split often but that is simple fixes other than that its just simple wear and tear

ahh cool so like any other car you rag it all the time some things going to break.
whats a general running cost i know the more times you stamp on the go faster pedal your going to use more i know in mine average a week is about 50-70 depens how far i drive and how fast

they are generaly ok like you said its down to how heavy your foot is

alright mate, glad to hear ypur looking at a seat, great cars!!
when looking at 300+ bhp, personally i would recommend upgrading the conrods, i have heard many horror storries about rods failing at that sort of power. there are not really any huge problems with these to look out for except those mentioned. for a small price you can eliminate all the small problems by fitting better hoses etc as mentioned
as standard, on long runs, being gentle, i could say to expect around 40mpg (staying off boost), heavy right foot on a long run, you could probably still average 30mpg
i couldnt give too much info on running costs as i have only recently picked mine up (300+bhp ibiza cupra) but from what i have seen since saturday, it has actually been really good!!
hope this helps, and good luck finding a leon!

It's hard to get a true 300 BHP out of these engine on the standard K04. Ideally if you're looking at that level of tune you'll in to fit rods, large FMIC, cone filter uprated DV, Relentless exhaust manifold, 3" turbo back system with sports/de cat, WMI and possible also a large port head to get out of the 290 bhp bracket.
To go beyond 300 bhp the turbo is the limiting factor so you'll need a hybride turbo (a good one), or BT.
If your buying a car aroung 60 k miles check the cam belt and water pump has been replaced. Coil packs go regually and check the clutch is ok as mine needed replacing 3 months after I bought mine and needed to replace it and the DMF. Check out the buying guild in the FAQ section. MPG is good for the performance.

i wouldnt of thought the engine would of needed to be rebuilt with stronger parts to get 300bhp id a thought it would be easy ish how wrong was i but thats why i like to ask questions you never know

Oh and you'll need to add a B5 TIP to that list of mods.
There is a lot of people that have been running stage 2 for year with no issues but these engine are getting on now! Don't let it put you off these are very nice cars to own. Just take your time and buy the right car. If I was you I'd start looking in the for sale section on here and find one that's been loved.
Here is a few threads worth reading re rods and power.

There is a thread that will help. Also use the search function as there is masses of info on here most of your questions will of been covered before.
Also read through a few readers rides. People are mostly friendly on here but if you ask questions that have been covered a number of times you may not get the answer you want lol.
