Hey peeps

Have finally recevied my k&n panel filter, which I have installed. Obviously, next thing is to drill the airbox. Any recommendations on how and where to drill the holes?

Also, I am looking to lower the car very soon and will most likely get a suspension kit for the time being.

I was just wondering, what height will be most suitable to cater for 16x7.5 & 16x9 rears?!

Much appreciated

Sultan

Small update, the airbox drilling is going 2 have 2go on hold. On the way home from work, the car was being very hesitant - continously cutting out and misfiring. Luckily, my bro was with me who's a member of the RAC ;-) we called, and 45mins later I got diagnosed with a faulty crank position sensor!

any1 been where I have?!

Harsh!

Im having a similar problem with my 2.0 8v, it doesnt cut out but every few minutes it strugles and then it will clear. I put in redex and the good old V-power and did a trip to London from b'ham, thinkin it would clear or something. But still no luck.

Is a crank senor similar for all engine sizes, or would a 1.4 be diffrent to a 2.0 8v?

cheers

@ myseatcupra - power k&n!!! kidding....edited now :p

@ big anup - Im not sure dude...gonna check on monday! Had the same problem with my polo, but that ended being the crank sensor in the distributor. The abf engines, have their very own crank position sensor, outside of the distributor.

@ mark - duh.

yep had the same thing happen to me. It took three sensors 1 month and 2 VW/SEAT specilist to sort. Did you buy a cheapy sensor from GSF or EURO. If you did thats you problem(i could explain why but not got all day) . Have to get a proper one (£160.00) gulp...... Mine started first time afterward and done 12000 miles and never missed a beat.

Its something to do with the magnet in the cheap crank sensors. They are not man enough to pick the crank turning to that you ecu doesn`t no when to fire. Hence no spark, and engine no run.......:cartman: You get what you pay fore. Get somebody to go through codes with the old vag com.....

Ok. I have had a look at the old sensor, and its identical to the gsf one. So it seems as though the sensor has been changed before and the car can run on the cheapy sensor, but only for a certain period of time!

I rang my local seat part dealer and they said £40 - Hmm...must b some mistake!!

Know of any cheap original parts dealers?

Thanks Kermit!

hay there im kinda new to this and im really in need of help, just bought an ibiza gti had it 2 days and already things are goin wrong!
it started with the beeping oil light and was told it was just a faulty oil preasure switch.
i replaced that and still it beeps! but now it sounds like there is no oil getting to the top of the head when i take it over 3000 revs.

bottom line is i think it might be the oil pump but i need a second opinion any ideas anyone would be a great help?

So there is a spark but engine isn't turning over. I had a similar problem in the old car and it ended up being something to do with the distributor leaking a little oil into the distributor cap, therefore coating some of the contacts in oil and this was stopping the some of the spark plugs from firing up.

might sound silly but is the new crank sensor wired up/ plugged in properly.

As someone said, try VAG-Com it first and see what codes (if any) pop up.
