Right i have just bought a 2.0 tdi sport Altea, and would like to know the following,so if anyone can help,i really appreciate it!

Q1. Is it worth changing the oil midway through the year?
Q2. What are the best uprated pads you recommend for this car/and any good price links?

Q3. Id like to add a subwoofer and an autochanger to my stereo (will add model no later) Is it possible? and how if possible!

Thanks a lot.Paul ;)

Oil change interval is 10k miles (or close to that anyway), and not much point in changing the oil before then. Unless you enjoy spending money on wasting oil for no reason.

Uprated pads... No idea.

Subwoofer and autochanger... No idea.

Nice car though, same as mine by the sound of things.

Hi Paul! Welcome to SCN!

SNAP! Same car :-D
What colour? wheels? etc do you have?

Q1 - As posted above, with it being 10k service, i would save the money to buy your sub.

Q2 - I am after the same at the moment, another forum member has recommended some (see post about rear pad wear) but be warned they are £100 a pair!

Q3 - Auto changer shouldn't be too hard, the ones that work with the Altea pop up all the time on eBay. Have you considered the iPod dock? i am currently thinking of swapping my CDC for one of them. The CDC is usually housed in the arm rest, you need to pull the bottom flap out of the deeper try and see if the cable is already there to add a changer. If not you will need to wire one to the back of the HU.
Sub, you will need to run power from the car battery, and then i believe you need to jack the amp onto speaker outputs. (or on some SEAT head units i believe you can get a cable with all the audio / remote power connectors you need - i have a man in the know so i will check)
I have not put my sub in mine yet as i feel the speakers that are currently in the car provide enough bass at the moment.

Hope that helps,

Thanks

Chris

Thankyou guys! i'll leave the oil then, saves money :D
My pads are ok for now, just worried that if i needed to change then wanted something with a bit of bite!
I'll have a good read off the links in your other threads Chris,is mine on a 05 too old for the i-pod dock? I will dig out the stereo no tomorrow!
Mines a Tinta black 55 plate, with the 17" optional extra alloys, car has 25k on it!
Thanks again guys.Paul :seatgod:

Hi, very similar car to mine, almost the same appart from the paint!
Are your 17inch wheels dull like mine? going to get mine resprayed!

Your radio should be fine to take the ipod dock, works fine in mine, i just cant decide between CDC or iPod at the moment. (its either one or the other!)

PM me if you have any questions!
Where abouts are you from?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, yep my wheels are quite dull, but not too bad. will probably go for an autochanger if i can (mainly cause i don't own an Ipod yet ! Even my 60 year old dad is more "Hip" than me:redface:)
I am in Swansea mate, how about you?
Thanks for the help!

Also just noticed in your Sig that you have HID's,does the beam go all over the place? I have fitted aftermarket ones to my 200sx and even though they are nice and bright, the projection is like a white xmas tree in front of the car [:@]

I am stuck as i want CDC as well as iPod dock! so i am trying to make a switch at the moment to switch between the two.

If i fail the CDC will be coming out!

The HID's are OK.. ish... the beam seems ok, they are only 5000k ones and most places sell the 8000k ones instead. Although i was driving behind me other half tonight and she said at times they were a little bright, but she thinks thats because they are white when she is used to "yellow" light.

Yep its the 5000k i went for in the 200,very white! is it 8000k that gets yellower and 3000k gets bluer or the other way round

Also i can't find the model no for my stereo, its not listed in the radio manual either

8000k is bluer light, and 3000k is yellower. 5000 - 6000 is best for visibility, 8000 is better for chavs and posing. In my opinion anyway.:D

Cheers viking! Totally agree on the chav thing,i even find my 5k hids are a touch bluey, would probably go 4k next time :D

Hello pdh.

Sorry for the late reply.

The unit came out of my January 2005 Altea. Will fit all vehicles that DO NOT have the AUX IN feature.

Look under the 'For Sale and Wanted Section' then 'Accessories for Sale' then '27/01/08

VAG/SEAT are very specific about using the right oil in the PD engine, I guess that it must be quite important.

My local SEAT dealer will do an oil/filter change, using VAG oil, for £50, less than I can buy the oil! And I don't have to get my hands dirty!

The question is: Is your engine worth an extra £50 a year?

I suppose you could enjoy your woofers while waiting for your breakdown service.
