Newbie saying hello + Lights On Warning

Hi All,

I've just brought an 06 LEON 2.0T FSi Sport - it's fantastic, puts a huge grin on my face every time I drive it!

I've had a good look through this forum, so most of the questions I had have already been answered, but I just wanted to check this before I (possibly) make myself look silly at the dealers.

If I leave my side lights on, remove the key and open the door, it will beep at me to remind me to turn them off, however if the main headlights are on it doesn't alert me in any way?? This seems counter intuative to me since the main lights would drain the battery far faster than the side lights?

My dealer seems very good, they have already agreed to sort out the noisy motorised driver's mirror, so if this is a fault, I'm sure they'll sort it.

I think this forum is a bad influence on me however, I had no intention of modifying the car until I came here, now I can't get the idea of a remap out of my head:think: especially after seeing what DanGB did with his (don't think I can afford to go that far though:().

Thanks,

Dave

I'm still waiting for my TFSI, but I reckon that lack of a warning might be because you either have auto lights or it's to do with the 'coming home' function. Try locking the car and waiting a short while. If your lights turn off, no problem! ;)

Welcome to the Forum!! Remap remap remap...in fact get a TB Miltek exhaust and some sort of panel filter first before the remap MORE POWER!! ;-)
Anyways to answer your questions yes that is correct. The car boings when you leave the sidelights on but doesn't for the main lights. Can't remember but I think the main lights go off the minute you pull the keys out of the ignition (or if you have coming home/leaving home lights they will stay on for a bit)
Hope this helps,
Alex

Thanks, as long as it's a 'feature' rather than a problem that's fine.

I think I might start saving up for the Milltek exhaust+ Panel Filter + Remap. I did have a look around for the Milltek exhausts, will the ones advertised for the FR work with my 185BHP Sport, from what I can tell the engines are almost identical? Obviously since the FR replaced the Sport all upgrades etc seem to be for the FR.

Rest assured your lights will switch off after a little while as mine do if I forget to switch them off.
Didn't know it beeps at you if you leave side lights on though.
