Do not buy one from ebay. Buy some gear from i4detailing.co.uk. I use Zaino clay bar and its brilliant. Can't comment on the others as I've never used them, but bilt hammer and meguiars are a very popular choice and are highly commended on here!

Claybar

Reading people's opinions with interest. Kids bought me the Meguiar claybar kit for Christmas and haven't had chance to use it yet. It comes with a quick detailer spray lubricant, which is easy to use and wipe off, plus a microfibre cloth - about £20 from Halfords. However, can't seem to find enough shade in the last few days to give the clay a proper go - too sunny!
Re: Autoglym Super Resin Polish, which I use on my Exeo (Urano grey - lovely colour), it's a good product but polishing by hand does leave the odd swirl. Didn't realise I needed a wax on top as well - won't that just seal in the swirls? Had the car machine polished a few months back and the paint came up really nice, but I wonder if SRP is a bit too abrasive for regular use. Do AG do a good wax or is Meguiar's the way to go?

It doesn't seal it in as such. It provides a protective layer on top of the clear coat.

The swirl marks are from cleaning the car with a dirty/old wash mitt or sponge, they can be removed with a slightly more abrasive compound, however I have seen SRP reduce swirls when applied with a little pressure.

AG do a wax, called autoglym high definition, I have also been told it is a very good wax, and so is megs tech wax (so I'm told)

SRP isn't too abrasive for regular use, i use mine quite a bit. I think SRP contains fillers to reduce the appearance of swirls.

As Jordan has said, swirling is from using a dirty sponge/washmit.

if you want to avoid swirling, always wash utilising the 2 bucket method, where you rinse the mit/sponge before applting the soap to the car.

As for wax, i use Autoglym HD wax over the top of SRP which is bloody good!

if you dont want to be spending £45 on the HD wax, but still want an autoglym product, use the extra gloss protection.
