Just thought id post up here to say a quick hi!

Iv been looking at Ibiza Cupras for a while, and tonight I was lucky enough to pick one up!

Some of you may recognise the car, I bought it off a lad called David, who said the former owner was on this forum aswell:

Im over the moon with the car already, cant wait to drive it.
The only thing is, iv got to wait till im 21 for my insurers to cover me on it!... then its not much more than what im paying now, im 21 at the end of the month!

Iv got the car back and its in the garage, so iv got a few weeks to work on it, sort out all the little imperfections and give it a good detail.
In the meaintime ill be carrying on driving my zetec s:whistle:

Iv just got a few questions about the ibiza in general;

1. Paintwork - heard its a common problem on the ovni yellow ones, iv got a bit of paint fade on a few pannels, also there is some laquer peel. Im hoping ill be able to polish out the paint fade with abit of poorboys, but im not going to be optimistic.
How much have people paid to get paint fade and laquer sorted?

2. Aftermarket headunits - Straight away I can tell this is going to be kind of difficult, is there any way of fitting aftermarket headunits to the ibiza?

Thanks!

Welcome.

I payed for a fully respray because of the paint fade and laquer peel, i wanted my car back to mint condition though.

Yeah I see what you mean, mines particularly bad down one side, thinking a full respray would be better, rather than having a few pannels done.
How much did this cost you... if you dont mind me asking.

Im unsure yet as to wether I try polishing it as best as I can and leaving it, or forking out and getting a full spray.

can fit headunit under steering wheel for an easy option or get the hacksaw out and start cutting up the dash

Welcome

Nice car. Quite some work done on that already.

Nice brembo's and a nice Forge FMIC

If I were you my first mod would be TIP (turbo intake pipe). and no I will not explain what it is, as all new people need to learn to use the search lol. Best to learn it right from the start ;)

Welcome

Car looks very nice:drool:

You'll soon learn there are many annoying faults with these cars (not just the paintwork), but when you drive them they make up for it

Mine has stereo fitted under the steering column, will try and post pic if you want to get an idea

I havent been able to drive it much, as im still driving round in the ZS.

I love the interior already, its a vag, so it feels nice to be in, feels solid and well built.

The only thing is the handling, my ZS handles like a go-kart, can throw it round and its so forgiving.

I havent had a proper chance to give the ibiza some beans as yet, I can tell already it wont handle as well, but its a bigger car.

Sorted a few of the bits out now, its been properly cleaned up, most of the little things iv sorted out.
Just need to do the temp sensor again, its still giving stupid readings. I did the shortcut by cutting the wires in the wingmirror, I think iv still got a problem with the wiring, the black wire was brittle and the copper inside was black, so need to take off the door card and re run the wiring.

Just needs the full spray now, hopefully getting that done within the next few months.

Just a quick update, been driving the car since Sunday, iv loved every second of it!:D

The zetec s got sold yesterday, so im using some of the cash towards the full respray.
Going to start going round for quotes over the weekend.

The engine bay is now finished;

and after lots of playing round with the outside temp sensor, its finally sorted!

So the only things left now are:

Aircon Re-gas & Full respray (and maybe a different set of wheels)

Im going to be doing an engine flush, oil & filter change later, with a dose of injector cleaner, just for peace of mind!
