Noise that sounds like a wheel bearing on a 300 4drive

Just a tip for you guys with a 300 4drive. If you have a noise the sound like a wheel bearing. Try a oil change on front and rear diff. Did mine on saturday and no more noise. Oil i use is Castrol syntrax long life 75w/90

Syntrax 75W/90 is OK for the gearbox with front diff but not for the rear Haldex unit. Use VW oil G 065 175 A2 or Febi 101171 to meet VW TL 52175-X spec.

Read my post again it is the rear diff NOT the haldex

My apologies. the workshop manual only lists Haldex oil but I can now see the separate filling point for 75W/90.

So happy I’ve found this thread. Had a noise exactly like a bearing for past 2 weeks. Only when about 20-30mph and doesn’t increase when cornering so assumed it must be driveline related. How much would SEAT charge roughly to replace front and rear oils and are the diff oil changes something that should be done for 2nd year service?
