I have this i think! Was going to post a thread about it tonight.

To me, it sounds like something hollow knocking on something solid in the centre of the dashboard, just below the windscreen vent.

It seemed to appear after I swapped out the OEM stereo for my Kenwood, but that could have just been co-incidence as I'd not had the car long when I did it.

Would appreciate any ideas on what it is ad how to sort it. Can the dash top be removed?

I had my LCR in the dealers for this annoying rattle for the day. It's a whole day job as the dash had to come out. They said it was a bar behind the dash that vibrates. This really only happend at 50mph+. It was padded according to them but on the way home it happens again at all speeds just a bit more quieter. I can't be arsed leaving it in again or the day and might leave it until the next service. For now I just turn up the music :)

Crikey, whole dash out! Mine happens at any speed it seems. Did you have yours sorted under warranty?

Yeah it was looked at under warranty but it wasn't sorted, even though they said they padded it out a bit more :), I will maybe have them take another look later on in the year. It is annoying but only when the tunes aint on.

I just fixed a rattle from that area the other day. I always though it was coming from somewhere on the dashboard.
I found out that it was actually a loose screw located below the steering wheel just to the right (T25 drive).

Try banging on the top of the dash with your fist. If you get the rattle then look under the steering coulmn and keep bashing the dash. Now try tightening this screw and see what happens. This screw was very loose on my car and tightening it stopped the rattle. I guess this will be an issue in all Leons as the dash has never been apart before and the rattle got steadily worse.

Good luck

Mine is more of a vibration/humming though and seems to be central behind the vents. I will check though later.
