Has anyone ever gone to VRS in Northampton? Just had the dreaded timing chain slip (apparently) on my 1.2 Ibiza and about to take it to them. Going to cost me £1,000 apparently so want to be sure they know what they're doing...

must admit that does sound steep has it crunched the valves?
the last timing chain i did (last week) was about £130 for the bits
but it does depend if its hit the valves etc
Good that you've heard of them. Yeah, it was Will I spoke to. He hadn't seen the car at this stage, just heard what was happening from another garage I brought it to (trouble starting, no obvious mechanical problem) - it just surprised me to get a quote for a replacement engine straight away as I thought a slipped belt could have various degrees of damage. Guess you have to trust these fellas to some degree, but just wondering whether it's worth it. Car's probably only worth £2.2k by now!
as i said if it hasnt done the valves then just get chain kit fitted

he just has to give worst case senario so if it has dameged then engine it maybe
