odb socket tuning?

I thought they plugged straight into the ECU to remap. *is worried hes been conned*

My car is an 03 with 105K on it, ive had it remapped but im after more power.
Im struggling to find if anyone has had a decat on it and if there are any performance gains (ASV is my engine code irrc)

Wouldn't you notice increased power after it was remapped?

i thought so at the time, but i thought it may of been a case of "i think its going to be quicker, so it is quicker" lol, it is quite nippy, but i had a test drive of a fabia vrs, and that just seemed, i dont know, more eager? It was more petrol like to drive i guess.

I'm looking at your Leon and thinking it probably has a 5 speed box but not sure, the vrs has a 6 speed so closer ratio gears which helps keep the revs in it's power zone, plus it is lighter I'd imagine which makes a difference too.

When I had my rubbish 130 bhp engine in my kit car having a passenger made a really noticeable difference, maybe a second on 0-60 so the weight thing is quite significant. Or was it the passenger (wife) telling me to slow down, not sure!

Perhaps the easiest way to tell if the ECU has been fiddled with is more smoke on hard acceleration! You can notice it a lot more at night when there are car headlights behind you.

they diffenately did something, with a laptop turning the ignition on and off and shiz. Process only took about 20 minutes

In the dark, with bright lights shining behind you, on full throttle.. you WILL see smoke. If not, your car is broke!

now I've mentioned it you'll be looking.. wait until a bmw is right up your chuff, then floor it in 5th from 45 mph, you should see what looks like dust in his headlights. we're not talking full on black smoke or owt! By the way, keep your eyes on the road, don't end up in a ditch!!

I'm just considering what to do with my ibiza tdi, try and modify it past a chip at 140bhp ish, or buy a cupra diesel ibiza... The torque I recall is around 250 lb/ft, simialar to my 250 bhp petrol kit car Of course I need to save the cash first

Lol il have to look, i know my car is nowhere near as smokey as my mate in works pd130 passat (standard)

i wouldnt mind more smoke tho anyway to be honest, just to annoy someone who is behind me dead close, just shower them in smoke and be gone haha
