Are all OEM units the same ?

The original one on the car has a part number of 06A145710 and what looks like the letter R in a box, the one the dealer sent 06A145710N.

I assume its the same thing but just a different production run ?

Pretty sure P is the latest revision, not sure what the 'R' is for.

my understanding is the letter after the part number is the evolution number of that part. A being the 1st evolution then B and so on.

The R i cannot help you on this

This has now been superceded by the 710p. Doubtful if there's any difference, probably just a manufacturer change as they won't be made by VAG.
