I was talking the the last owner who o bought the car off.. Actually was a good chat. We was checking stuff over n looking to replace the N75! So while we was going over the engine bay looking at tubes being connected properly.. Then we undid the oil cap filler n it smells of petrol? Pulled out the dip and that smells the same. Obviously the cars mapped but would I expect this? Or is it time for an oil change? The oils not got any gunk it just looks like oil. But I don't want to start jumping to conclusions like warn cams and followers or warn rings. Can anyone else take a smell of their for me please?

Mines MK2. I changed the oil a few weeks back. I do it every 6 months. But before I changed it, it stunk of petrol. Fuel will hinder the lubrication properties of the oil. So it's best to change it.

Thank you... feeew... Had me worried.. I have just this moment read that short trips can also do this too. But you sir have put my mind at ease I can now concentrate on my boost issue.. Off to the breakers yard to get a n75 n get it ago.

Just been out to do my weekly checks. I did an oil n filter change about 3 weeks ago I think. Using miller's nt+. Dipstick and the fresh cloth I used to wipe the oil now stink of fuel. But ye, I also do a lot of short journeys during the week. Just need to give it a blast at weekends.

Yeah.. Im guessing mine isn't helping due to the fact that I've Charge Pressure issue Atm so I get no boost at all. Going in the garage Tuesday for a health check something they do before remaping. Then il have the problem fixed.
