Oil in the intercooler pipes

Hi everyone

Is it normal to have a fair amount of oil in the intercooler pipes? Because of the oil in the system it causes my silicon pipes to pop off whilst driving along.

I was thinking about getting an oil catcher can. Will that help or is it not worth getting?

Yes a catch can will help this alot. I have one but still get a little bit of oil in the intercooler setup, this is perfectly normal thats why we have to clean our throttle bodies.

The engine bay seems pretty rammed, so where have you placed yours? Btw did you go to Santa pod recently around the end of march?

You have done alot to your car mate. I bet it goes well. Do you find that our cars (the way the car puts down the power) don't seem to be like spastic as soon as you have put your foot to the floor, it's more progressive. I raced my brothers astra Vxr it is 332bhp and I keep up with it up to 120/130.

Thanks m8, my set up is stupidly quick low down, my map has been set up for my mods ect. I have my boost clipped so it doesnt drop up the revs so it pulls all the way. My car made 285bhp on a rr that measures true to life results. During setting up mbc i was hitting 310 ftlb torque at 3000rpm now thats crazy power low down.

yes im also looking into water meth, uprated engine rods, 3" downpipe and some coilovers. i love my car as it is if i honest but these are the only items i dont own and my car doesnt feel finished with out them

Unless your turbo seals have gone the oil is entering your intake tract from the crankcase via the PCV system remove the PCV system and fit a catch can this will cleanse the intake pipes of all that muck for good I mounted mine on the battery box, thought it filled the gap nicely

That said tho some engines produce more crankcase discharge than others the healthier the engine the less it will produce if I'm honest, mine barely produces any at times just oil vapour no black oil at all my intake pipes are always crystal clear, usually you'll find higher boosting cars will make more crankcase discharge due to the higher crankcase pressures.

What I will do is take off my pipe and take a picture put it on here and see if you think that it is a healthy amount. It's not huge amount but it is enough to make my top boost pipe pop off everyonce and a while. (the pipe that comes off the metal/plastic turbo pipe).
