This type of thread is almost 100% on here somewhere, however I've search and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for!

I want to know what brand, and type of oil Cupra owners put in their car. And roughly how much they put in per year/month/week/... minute

Thanks :)

5w 40 in summer
5w 30 in winter

both castrol edge,
top up about 250ml between the 7500mile changes.

Have Seat not started using 0W-30 yet, my 2011 S4 was filled with that when it was serviced by Audi dealer in May/June - and Audi seem to mention this on their website, it has been done to improve MPG while retaining "complete protection"?

Castrol EDGE Professional LongLife III 5W-30, changed every 7500km.
Mine isn't drinking any after the new pistons.
Maybe 50ml in 7500km.

Most dealerships should of changed over to 0w 30 by now SHELL Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0W 30 is a popular choice for this oil.

not for the bocs/cupras lad. maybe for other engines.

Humm, that says a lot about the Cupra/Boca engines, it is in my S4 - (supercharged 3.0V6 TSI) that the 0-30 was dumped into. Anyway, as lots of people will know, what the service/parts areas have on show and sell in one litre containers need not bear any resemblance to what Audi/VW/Seat/Skoda are currently saying what should be used in the service departments as they really do need to move on any old stock they have.

On that "what oil?" subject, I bought my wife a new 1.2TSI 110PS Polo a few weeks ago, meant to ask salesman what oil it is meant to use, but thought I'd get told anything, so I looked in the operating manual, nothing much in there as to "weight" of oil, saw the parts place still have stocks of 5W-30 to move so did not bother taking it any further!

So, it looks like in general, the oil "weight" advice has gone out the window as far as VW is concerned, the current thinking is "thin" is good for engine + environment + MPG, I just hope that someone has done a lot of work proving that.

the tsi engine is super finiky, and putting 0-30 in would probably be to thin for it, youd end up with really really fast oil usage, ergo people switching from 5w30 to 5w40(ive done it also but am changing back to 30 soon as its winter and i need it to run right)

0w-30 is used on all seats including the boca and the cupra's in a dealership setting. have had no reports of excessive consumption since the switch from 5w 30.

Hi everyone. Iv got a seat ibiza cupra 13reg and I'm sorry to say worse car I have ever had.
I had it a year and from
Day one problem after problem

Let me start with saying about the oil
My god the car drinks oil like we drink water. 24 lts in one year.
Seat said there isn't no problem. And didn't Believe me until i showed the bottles of oil I used
It has took me this long to finial get it sorted.
There going put a new engine in next week

Even called up seat head office and some women named Megan said because I didn't by the car from seat dealer ship and got from a private dealer they did not know what the car was like when I got it.
! And the best thing I could do is sell the car.
No one tells a owner of one of there cars to sell it.

It's like me saying I work for apple. But go buy a Nokia

Anyway then the other problem i started having was gear box would kick and thump when it changed , (automatic )
Still trying to get them to sort it

Also the car was losing power. When it took it in they said the car wasn't getting air. !? And when they had a look they said the wires had melted !?
Now this not even a 3 year old car. And I had all Thai problem.

Anyway has anyone else had any of the above

Thanks guys.
