Order status - build weeks

I ordered a lease via nationwide a couple of month ago when they were quoting a January delivery but from what I understand the car still hasn't been given a build week and I'm generally getting shrug of the shoulders with regards to when one might get assigned, never mind a delivery..

Does anyone know what the timeframe is from build week to delivery is?

Thanks

I can't provide a concrete answer but I've seen 16 weeks quoted. But looking at the build date thread for the Leons it looks like even this might be too short.

I'm in the same situation regarding the Nationwide offer. I took that offer because they quoted January delivery. I see the same advert is now quoting March delivery.
They claimed that they were guided by the dealer but If they're aware of such massive delays they shouldn't be quoting any dates.

Their T&Cs say you lose the full admin fee at this stage. But to me, their advert was misleading. Not all their adverts show delivery dates so by having one, it implies the car at least has a build date.

For them to then come back and say it doesn't, seems dodgy to me.

What's to stop them taking your money and not delivering anything for a year.

There are some other guys on Pistonheads who also have the same issue. We all took the offer because of the stated date.

I don't suppose you have a screenshot of the original advert showing the date?

I can extend my current lease for 6 months but I don't know if even that will be enough.
If I cancelled it might be a fight to get the admin fee back. But as far as I'm concerned it was false advertising and they haven't fulfilled their side of the contract.

Need to ask the question on some kind of legal forum I think.

Yeah doesn't sound good at all, I'm now becoming concerned that without a build week it's going to be beyond March...

I'm currently on an informal extension myself for a max of 6 months on a larger car and so each month is also costing me more money!

While I didn't take a screenshot, fairly sure they used stronger wording than just January delivery to imply they had secured stock/build window.

Do you know if anyone had tried the likes of the waybackmachine to see if any cached versions of the page exist out there....

It certainly feels false advertising at this stage, especially when they are currently advertising cars with a March delivery which you've got to think have no chance of being delivered then!

Has anyone found out what dealer is actually fulfilling the order, might we get a better update from them direct - as I wonder how much nationwide are perhaps making it up, and not speaking to the dealer themselves.

I tried Wayback machine but it wasn't saved. Just had a look on Nationwide again and they're showing only Magnetic Grey for March and May for all colours.

Not sure about the dealer.

I've decided to call time, and have cancelled my order.

With no date in sight, and no meaningful information forthcoming - I can't afford to wait and hope that a car arrives in the next five months.

What are you going to do with regard to getting a replacement car?

Seat isn’t alone in having long lead times and production delays - this is affecting pretty much all manufacturers due to continuing semiconductor supply issues and Covid, resulting in fewer cars being built.

I was keeping an eye on leaseloco and leasing.com multiple times during a day for in stock cars and some 208's popped up last week.

So managed to get one of those, and have been told its built and just waiting for shipping to UK - a lot better than still waiting for a build week. Only at that point did I cancel my order.

My suggestion to others would be to do the same, keeping a watch for a vehicle popping up that you'd be willing to switch away for the ibiza for.

As SRGTD said It’s the same everywhere at the moment , just look on the Ford websites - huge delays but dwindling through a bit now. Trains at Dagenham are moving pretty fast now with fiestas , pumas etc on them.

Ordered a Xcellence Lux end of August, built last week, on route to UK. Was originally quoted beginning December. Like ppl have said chip shortages have hit vehicle production hard, not the only sector to suffer with this.

Mrs ordered a SMax hybrid April time, quoted November, but came early and picked up 1st Sept! Swings n roundabouts!

Yeah it’s happening everywhere, I ordered a Ford puma titanium in oct and was promised Jan 22 , then in Dec 21 told would be March - may 22 ! But I got a phone call the other day saying a puma st-line x was available immed so I snapped it up and it was delivered yesterday.
Also with fords certain trim levels are getting build priority over other levels. And the worst is if you start adding extras onto your vehicle…puts delivery time right back.
