hello

thought i would join the forum seen as i have just ordered a 1.4 seat leon sc fr

hopefully will have it at the end of october but this is my first ever brand new car so cant wait for it to come :D

i went for the 1.4 sc fr in allor blue , bought the seat sound pack , led pack , and got the tech pack for free and the 18 inch alloy wheels

with it been my first new car not sure if i got a good deal or not but seemed ok

i got the alloys for £300
got the seat sound pack but i got the space saver wheel for free so saved £75 there
got free car mats as well
also got the tech pack for free and the £1000 towards the deposit so in total it cost me £20.295 but with there 1000 deposit it bring it down to £19.295 and the 0% finance with a 50% deposit

also have you been running in the engines if so whats the best way to go about it ?

Hi Mate,

The engines on new cars, these days, are normally already "run in" so you shouldn't have to do it.

Not technically true - my 1.6 TDI needed to be run in. It specifically needed to be kept below 3k for 3k miles.

Petrol engines not so much. Diesel engines need to be "run in" though for like 1k-3k miles, depending on what the manual says. Never plank a diesel engine when it's still "cold" either.

I think that would be true of any turbo engine?

Since the mid 80's the standard "running in" advice on every car I have bought has been for the first 600 miles do not thrash it at full throttle, do not labour it in a high gear and do not drive at a constant speed for hours on end. After 600 miles drive it like you stole it.

But don't drive a new engine to gently either, there is a good chance you will glaze the bores. if that happens it will never produce good power, will tend to burn oil and have a poor fuel consumption.

All I have ever done is drive normally from day one, its worked fine for me.

thanks for the reply will go and find a manual online and see what it says about it :D

also still after some views to see if i got a good deal or got ripped off haha :)
