Jarre......car is hating the hids....keeps popping a fuse! Goin into seat tomorrow for second time to get the wiring re done for n/s/f headlight!! Again!! I'm sure the mtecs will be adequate enough as hids have lasted for all of 2 days in total on my car over 2 months!!

Just stumbled upon a picture I took a couple of days ago and totally forgot about. I wanted to show the difference between Osram Nightbreaker Plus (H1) in the high beam and 6000K HID in the low beam up close:

Of course up close is different from when they're activated and you're in the car; however, you can see that the HIDs are definitely bluish while the Nightbreakers are pure white, keeping in mind that the HIDs are, of course, much stronger, therefore they appear more bright when looked at from a distance or when activated while in the car.

hides-direct seller on eBay, take a look!

I've just fitted new bulbs! Not used at night yet, but can see that maybe they are too dim... Will check later tonight

Fitted both Osram Nightbreakers and MTEC Cosmo. The Osrams are clearly brighter but the MTEC's give off a much sharper light! Both great bulbs (MTEC's being half the price you could say these are better for the money)

Fitted sides and dipped MTEC's the other day...

Must admit they perform really well, much better than I expected. Usually you see really bright blue lights on some cars retro fitted, but these don't seem to dazzle at all either (of course that's if you care about other drivers)

Bright enough, although night breakers are more efficient, these give a cleaner more crisp finish and look great at night!

Happy fitting

im so confused...........

i want white/slight blue light but i want to see the road well too... with rain and everything.... after doing some search in the net im between...

1) Philips blue vision ultra (i think thats my taste)
2) Philips Diamond Vision (nice color but no bright)
3) Osram Nightbreaker plus
4) Osram Cool Blue Intense

I like the mtec's cosmos blue also but they say they are not bright..... like DV

Mate, Mtec's aren't as bad as some people make out. Go for HIDs if you want the best of both. I've got Mtec and they are better than the standard bulbs and if its really dark and no one else is on the road put your full beam on.

I've found that the Mtec's both H7 (dipped) and H1 (full) are just fine, I love the finish they give (really smart) and I find they are fine for their brightness

The Mtec's performance is subjective; I replaced standard bulbs with Mtec's and on unlit roads that I use regularly I found their performance was below that of standard bulbs!

Any bulb that has any kind of tint on the glass is going to block a percentage of the light reaching the road in the same way sunglasses stop a percentage of sunlight reaching your eyes!

That's very true. That's why I went for Nightbreakers in the full beam and HIDs in the dipped beam and fog lights. Might remove the HID completely and install Nightbreakers all around since they're much better than the halogen bulbs that came with the car. I also have Osram Cool Blue Intense in the side lights, and they're much brighter than the ones that came with the car as well.
