Hi all .

I've just realised that my cordy TDI 130 has that overfill gadget in the top of the filler tank , which enables me to squeeze in about 10 litres of extra derv once the fuel has clicked off .

My question is : Do other cars apart from SEAT'S have this facility to overfill and if they don't why not :confused:

I seem to have read somewhere that if the outside temperature is too hot , DIESEL can expand , hence the reason for the allowed expansion area of the fuel tank .

Also i was wondering if all fuel tanks , petrol and diesel have this built in allowance in case of overheating and fuel swelling ,

Many thanks ,

Mark :think:

yes most cars have this.

cars that dont, probably actually have it, but dont also have a way of bypassing it.

your right about the diesel or petrol expanding it it gets warmer.
the same goes for water and air.
colder = more dense.

fill up a 5 litre plastic canister with diesel or petrol and then leave it in the car on a hot summers day. then take a look at the previously square canister that is now round!***

***dont actually do that. its just silly
