So, the old girl (cupra r, 2003, 206,000 miles) is having a little issue. When I accelerate above 2500rpm ish, I have a loss of power, slight misfire and engine light flashes on and off and a Fault code of CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR A CIRCUIT (BANK 1 OR SINGLE SENSOR).

I have read other threads regarding this and most people suggest a poorly installed timing belt, however timing belt was done at 175k and everything was smooth, and this has only raised its head lately, she's parked up alot so I'm thinking possible wiring issue as the camshaft position sensor is apparently fairly bullet proof, but then again it is 14 years old now so I cant rule anything out really can I?

Any body have a similar issue with a similar aged car??????

If you scan it with VCDS then it should give you a better idea of what the issue with the sensor is. It usually has more detail such as "implausable signal" or "short to ground" etc etc

My CPS certainly wasn't bullet proof. It could well be the wiring on the sensor that has deteriorated as it has quite a long cable that is exposed to a lot of heat. I got my CPS from ECP for about £50 a few years back.
