Hello everyone.

New member and first post !

I have downloaded this code (P0407 -
Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor )
from the OBD.
I believe it’s a very expensive repair if done by a Main dealer.

So, my question guys is this. Does anybody know of a specialist Seat Leon non-main dealer garage I can be put in touch with to do this repair cheaper than the main dealer.

I live in Camberley, Surrey.

I am prepared to travel a reasonable mileage to the garage.

Thanks guys

Has your car had the emissions update done? Should be able to get the EGR changed free of charge if it has.

If not, the EGR valve / electrics failing is a common fault on the 1.6 CR engines so any independent garage specialising in VW group brands should be familiar with it.

Hi Rusty2k,

Thanks for your invaluable advice.

Yes, I had the emissions upgrade carried out by a Seat Main dealer last year. The car hasn’t been quite right ever since as it quite often kept the cooling fan on after the engine was turned off ! Dealer said it was to do with clearing the DP Filter and that once this process was started it had to complete and that because it was quite an intense process the engine ran hot and had to be kept cool hence the fan remaining on !
Anyway long story short...last week the glow plug light came on whilst the car was being driven and was flashing yellow...there was a definite loss of power, then the engine management light came on yellow ...and remained on !
I put my OBD on it and it showed only one code P0407 - EGR Sensor problem. Posted on this forum and you replied.
I got in touch today with the Main dealer who carried out the original update and explained the problem and the VW Warranty free cover and the car is booked in to have this problem fixed !

Thanks again for pointing out the VW warranty.

Kind regards
Dave.
