Hi guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a mk2 leon tfsi sport, however the owner has admitted that there is an error code on the car which is P2540. Low pressure fuel system Sens circ Range/perf. Does anyone know the best and worst case scenario this would be to fix? I've read that it's most likely the fuel pressure sensor? I believe he has tried to order the sensor but proving hard to source. The car is at a good price so there is a budget to fix the problem but I just didn't want to go into the hundreds to repair!

Many thanks
Dave

Well, just my opinion, but if its that obvious and easy to fix, why doesn't he just do it? Put the price up by the repair cost and sell it. I also find it hard to believe the sensor is that hard to get hold of what with Sere here on the forums, Seat themselves, eBay, indy garages.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. I'd offer the extra cash to have it fixed first by him! Or walk away. If it turns out not to be that, you could be doing the same as me. I've been trouble shooting a potential fuel pressure issue since April. Just spent £260 on a new fuel pump. Didn't fix it. Fuel pressure regulator is next (might not fix it).

I've spent about £1k on parts and not once have I struggled to find parts. I've found them competitively priced across several sources. In for injector testing next. Another £170 blown!

Thanks for the reply!

Yes I completely agree, having also spoken to my trusty mechanic he's advised against it. At least the seller was honest though and didn't just clear the fault code when it was time to test drive the car!

The other option if you wanted confirmation... take a look at the Sere motors section of the forum. Post the make / model / year of car and the sensor your looking for. And usually within a couple of hours Dave will get back to you with a discounted price. Then you'll know for sure how difficult it is to source.
