I'd like to have my brake callipers painted red...to match my red FR.

Is this an easy thing to do? Would it be expensive to have it done by a company? Indeed any ideas of a company that would do such a thing?

Buy a tin of Hammerite Red (can be bought from Halfords, B&Q, Tesco...) and some fine paint brushes. You need at least 2 coats of the stuff on the calipers before they start looking really nice (the first coat just looks dirty and dull)
Should take about an hour or so to do the whole car.

You make it sound easy!

Pressumably I just take off the tyres and paint the calippers, but do I take the callipers off the car first? I'm a complete novice at this kind of thing!

Well its up to you. I have heard that some people taking off the calipers to paint them but I am not qualified enough to take apart the brakes and then put them back together again so option 1 is the easiest way to go.
Just jack up the car, take the wheels off and put in on Axle stands (that is my bit of H&S out of the way) and just paint the calipers with fine brushes (don't want to use a too big a brush) Since you are doing the calipers anyways you can always clean the brakes and paint the hubs at the same time :D

Yeah its pretty straighforward however slightly time consuming - and make sure you dont put the wheels back on untill your confident there will be no paint drips..

Its also a good opportunity to give your wheels a propper clean!

I always use spray paint to colour brake callipers as i find it to be a neater job than a brush, plasticoat or hammerite works fine and wont burn off! just remove the wheel, mask off the disc etc and spray very light coats until your satisfied!

as above you can do it with them on or off i did both just cover up all exposed paint work and spray on the hammerite with 3 or 4 coats then laquer 2 odd coats your looking at more than an hour though

mark 1 i know but all the same in theory

I got some calliper paint from halfords for £7, jacked the car up took thewheel off wire brushed the calliper then used abit of emry tape to get the rest of the **** off then just freestyled it with a brush gave it 2 coats and they look really nice.

It took me ages though having to wait 90 min for the first coat to dry and i could only get one wheel off at a time!

but if you can get all 4 wheels off at the same time it will take about 4 hours in total including the paint drying

Hmm, this is getting complicated now! I thought it would be a quick job but its looking more and more like one for a professional to do!

Furthermore, is my warranty harmed in any way by me touching/removing/painting the brakes?

especially with some black wheels, i think a cupra with white calipers would be nICEeeeeeee
