So, I've been thinking of upgrading from the original pancake pipe to something with less restriction's. I've upgraded the sidemount intercooler and fitted silicone hoses, but since then I've had problems, a lot of problems! Few days after fitting the above I was on full boost in top gear then it just went flat, eventually started boosting again but not 100%. I can hear my turbo spool at very low revs now which made me think I had a boost leak. All hoses and intercoolers checked out fine, I'm now convinced my dumpvalve seal has failed. Fitted the blanking plug to the dumpvalve which makes it fully recirculating and the turbo spool was pretty much silent buy I only had about 50% boost. Took the plug back off and set it to atmosphere and I can hear the turbo spool bright as day but still im only getting about 75% boost. So I'm convinced the seal has gone. Which brought me to the conclusion that the pressure difference between the exit of the turbo and the entry of the pancake pipe is much greater than the pressure in the intercooler as its about 3 times wider so this may cause some sort of pressure difference and that may be the reason to the dumpvalve seal failing under boost pressure. Ive browsed the interweb for upgrades but all I'm seeing is diesel upgrades or ridiculously priced pipes! Any ideas?
