Hi,

My car has just arrived at the dealer and I should be able to pick it up next week. Just wondered if anyone with a panoramic sunroof knew if their insurance covered in under their normal glass policy? I've read that some do therefore would replace it if damaged for the small £75 excess etc, but some would count it as a full claim and take the full excess. Obviously I would prefer one that covered it under the normal glass policy. Also they would have to cover Northern Ireland.

My missus works for a glass place and said insurance cover them as glass so now need for a full claim, she's put loads through.

What's also just as important, Is to check the wording of whichever insurance policy you are considering, some will stipulated you have to use their approved glass replacement company, which basically means which ever company they have screwed down to the lowest price. Often they don't know the first thing about what are often quite complicated glass roof systems , but they will have a go. Often with serious consequences later on down the line because it's not been set up correctly and strains the internal workings of the roof mechanisms.
Hopefully Yourll never need to claim, but I'd always choose a insurance company that let's me take it to who I want, ie a specialist who understands these type of roofs.
I do the same with all my cars glass policies, after having seen first hand the damage caused - often its not immediately obvious - by badly trained glass fitters

Meppershall Beds.
good idea - I was going to suggest check with insurer that it's covered, but there's probably a requirement to use THEIR preferred agent, not yours.
hope I never need to find out!
