parking sensors

hi everyone i have just got a 2008 leon fr and the parking sensors do not sound my question is this
1 can they be turned off?
2 or am i just mistaken in believing that they are present at all?

sorry i meant to say if yhe car already has sensors how the hell to i turn them on!

Does the reverse light come on when you put it into reverse?

If and when they work, they emit a quick beep to let you know they are on and working, then start to beep faster until one tone when you are approx 12" away from something.

I am 99% sure they take a feed from the reverse light, hence the question does the reverse light actually light. If it does light, it maybe just a bad connection onto the control box.

Again, I am 99% sure the control box will be mounted behind the near side boot lining in the boot.

Mine stopped working at one point and it was just a bad connection, but the dealer sorted it under warrenty.
