I have used the search function but couldnt find anything specific to help me out, heres my problem.

I was hovering the rear of my ibiza yesterday and noticed water appearing on the surface of the carpet, having searched the forum i found it to be a common thing. so today i lifted the carpet up to check the gromet in the rear footwell and it is fine, however i noticed most of the water had been absorbed into the carpet and sound proofing.

I then worked forward removing various trim/seat etc and found there was loads of water collected in the front carpet aswell. here is what the car looks like at the moment;

I'm now at a bit of a stand still and dont know where to actually look for the leak as there is no obvious one place of water it is spread in both front & rear. the carpet under the glovebox is soaking aswell but i'm struggling to remove it. does the glove box need to be removed to get the carpet out ?

Could any one help me on advise or what i can do next ?

Thanks

Check if any drain holes in the engine bay are blocked? This happend with my dads vauxhall and caused this issue.. It was full of leaves, I dont know where they are on the ibiza although I imagine somewhere near the back of the engine bay just under the windscreen?

Update - this my problem ?

I think i may have found the problem, should there be a blanking grommet where i have circled in the pic, me and my dad are sure there should be as just inside that hole is the sound proofing which is soaked.

Help! same issue - did this work?

Hi All

I'm new to the forum and came across this after a search. I see this threads a few months old but I've got exactly the same problem. At a bit of a loss what to do and with all this rain its getting pretty soaked passenger side

Just wondered if bunging up the hole in the engine bay on the prev pic did the job as I'm also missing a bung and this'll be an easy fix. Otherwise, does anyone have any other suggestions?

I've aready had the door cards off and resealed so that should rule the doors out.

Thanks, any advice appreciated :)

Cool, fingers crossed! I'll try a fix for the hole tomorrow, can't see the bung so guessing its been removed at some point.

I'll repost when I've solved it, this seems a common problem on the forums.

Thanks

Had this problem a long time ago on my car.

My car wasn't missing it's bung, the bung just would not fit properly. So it's since been pushed in and sealed with waterproof silicone and there's been no leaks since.

I'm glad somebody posted a picture, getting to see where that bung is, is a nightmare!

Turns out rain water was seeping up into the hole as described. There was enough debris in the bit below the scutle panel creating a pool of water and not draining down. I've put a Lego brick under the cable protectors to lift the wires and stop this forming a rim where dirt was siting underneath, then I cleared all debris and there's a small channel that flows water under where the bung should be - also clear. I've plugged the grommet hole temporarily with polystyrene to see if this is the fix it needs.

Fingers crossed this is the only leak!

I'll update with pics when I fix it permanently or discover anything else it could be. Now the drying starts on the sound proofing and carpets which is gonna take time!

Thanks for the advice
