HI All
recently I have noticed the mpg is dropping or takes a lot longer to go up. In the past I could easily get it to read around 60mpg on a run but only madie it to about 54 on a recent long run. Its not a drastic drop I know but does seem to be a making a difference overall as most journeys are fairly short and then mpg is really suffering. There seems to be no loss of power or excessive smoke and fuel and air filters were changed at last service.

Any ideas?

John

You're going to loose some over winter, winter diesel is a different mix so economy dips.

Yes I know there is a difference which could be the cause but I've not noticed it as much as this before. Taking it steady the other day (65 -70mph mostly on dual carriageway) and it took a journey of well over 100 miles to get much above 50MPG indicated. Done the same journey many times before and got over 60MPG indicated when pushing much harder.

strange but I've just completed the same journey as on friday, no fuel put in over weekend, similar driving conditions and just got home with a reading of 64MPG!

I wouldn't worry too much about the mpg figure you get from the car, it can fluctuate a lot so it's not amazing.

Really the best way is to work out the average mpg over the entire tank when you fill it up.
